For all the mythology that finals bring the tough, aggressive, physical, uncompromising footy there has been a lot of short steps taken by both sides tonight.

What struck me is how soft both teams were at times. There was a lot of pulling out of contests or waiting for someone else to get it. Not at all what I've come to expect from finals footy.

If we happen to meet Melbourne at some point we need to find a way to limit Petracca’s involvement and hope like hell Oscar can at least hold his own against Gawn, given he usually gets a bath from him. Outside of those 2 they don’t have a whole lot right now.

Pies will probably only get better from here given the golden boy for whom their game is built around will be back, but I don’t think they’re unbeatable either.

Don’t kick it down the line to Gawn is a good start

I've learnt that in finals, you can go into a game wanting X team to win... but chances are that if that team DOES win, they've been impressive in doing so. So suddenly your thinking changes to "I don't want to play them either" 😄

So I think the best outcome is for the better team on the night to lose due to inaccuracy in front of goal.
Great outcome. 69 inside 50s to 37. Wowee.

I will go as far as to say Collingwood only won tonight because the game started wet, and that really hurt Melbourne, as it has going back as far as 2021.

We would be well advised to practice end-of-game scenarios where we have to chase the game, as well as where we are defending the lead. We may need both over the next (hopefully) 3-4 weeks. Collingwood do both superbly, aided in part tonight by said inaccuracy.

And if we are good enough to draw Melbourne at the Gabba, we should "accidentally" water the ground between the two warm up periods pre-game, and again at half time. Accidentally of course. Melbourne will absolutely beat the stuffing out of Carlton next week and will fill us with fear all over again even if we are good enough to beat Port this Saturday.

Would much rather play Melbourne at the GABBA than Collingwood.

Pies fans travel well and would fill the GABBA up. Happy with this result. Just have to beat Port.
