Did somone one the Melbourne Board start a Freo deathwatch thread or something?

To be fair Freo have only played Saints, North, west coast, Adelaide and Gold Coast and have only beaten west coast and Gold Coast. Based on last years ladder their start of the season draw was insane.

So I think melb will still be receiving a nice pick.

I think Brisbane not having Cumberland is good for the academy. Shows that the pathway is actually getting some elite Queensland talent into other clubs.

I would like to see any of the NGA "academies" provide a good quality player to a team they aren't ties too.
Seeing as the NGA clubs lost rights to players bid on in the top 40, there's a few going around these days. Mac Andrew at Gold Coast was a Melbourne nga kid, but because he was drafted at pick 5, Melbourne wasn't allowed to match. Same with Cam Mackenzie last year, was nga to St Kilda, but was drafted by Hawthorn at pick 7.

I appreciate the correction, but I guess I'm more talking about NGA players the club has has to pass on, rather then not had access too.

As an astute draft watcher, do you think those guys being part of their respective NGA academies had any noticable improvement in their draft ranking?
