McRae’s reference to the MCG and it’s favourable impact on umpiring is such poor sportsmanship particularly given the fact is that Collingwood play 14 games there this year and of course the GF against interstate teams. Really poor from their senior coach - he should be better than that.

Unfortunately he's been turned by all the favouritism and is now a massive whinger when things don't go his way. Just like the Scott's

Needs a year or 2 as an assistant with us to get that perspective back

The result was one of those that you could find a positive for the Lions no matter who won.
The goal this week is to beat the Giants at The Gabba.
We do that and mission accomplished.

Happy for the Pies to be winging about the umpires.
But according to McRae they will get a better run next week at the MCG.

When Collingwood was winning all those close games the dynamic was different. They were a close knit group that maintained discipline right through the course of the game. This year they've dropped intensity for significant periods and have lost their structure at times.

In other words when they were winning close games they were playing better with more desire and intent. I suppose you could call that luck but the truth is they're not having the same luck when they're not playing as well.

I really hope next week we swat the Pies away like the tiny, infested flies they are.
Agree, get well ahead and umpiring interpretations don't matter as much.

LOL at McCrae having a whinge and moan about the non-50 metre penalty and the umpiring in general.

When everything was going their way, it was because of how they practice "scenarios" and never through rub of the green with umpiring and other freaky strokes of luck. EG the outrageous non-50 that robbed North of a win against them

Suck it up Pies

Love love love this post. Other bits of luck were opponents missing easy shots to ice the game on multiple occasions.

Sadly though I don’t think the grand final was luck - we were lucky to be that close given the flow of play.

Ok, maybe.

But if we'd had 2023 Collingwood level luck, we would have won the GF by four goals.

On the general run of play throughout last season, they would have struggled to have even made top 4.

Not to mention they won their three finals by a total margin of 8 points.

They should be grateful for that Premiership instead of acting like big girls' blouses as soon as things revert to the norm. They are just not that good.

You’ve got no argument from me!

Just watched McCrae's post match.

He seemed under a large amount of pressure for someone who just won them a flag last year.

A little bit disconcerting tbh.
He was very emotional , barely holding it together .

I'm almost convinced we'd be better off finishing 3rd or 4th and playing a qualifying final against Sydney at the SCG. We've just been especially wasteful at home this year compared to on the road for the most part.

Cats too 2 is very funny though, they are so woefully average. More talented teams have managed to stuff it up across the season and Chris Scott’s excellent coaching has got a bunch of scrubs through.
