Considering how inaccurate he is from straight in front, the shot must have been from outside 50

Rocket heavily involved in this as wellWoah, Clayton really does love those skinny project players.
"It was very clear a while ago that Matthew Kreuzer, Trent Cotchin and Cale Morton were going to be three players gone before our pick (No. 5)," Clayton said at the time.
"If Jarrad Grant's not the next best player after them, then I'll swim to Williamstown from here."
Clayton, now Gold Coast recruiting boss, chuckled last night about the quote resurfacing, but he's not about to back down.
"It's not about the player that plays first, it's about the player who plays longest," Clayton said.
"It was always going to take time to get his body right. He's exciting. He'll have a good AFL career."
With players like Dangerfield, Rioli, Harry Taylor & Rance taken after him Clayton should be swimming to Tasmania instead.I like how Clayton is willing to double-down on his stupid selections.
Recruitment dream team.Rocket heavily involved in this as well
He's barely AFL standard as a defensive wing sort of player. No upside there.Grant not as bad as some are making out. I mean sure he is fairly average but he has some nice tools to work with... his limiting factor is obviously his physical build though. Has some upside I would have thought.
Paparone>>>>>>> Grant.I like how Clayton is willing to double-down on his stupid selections. I still love this quote:
Later in 2010:
Actually I enjoyed reading all the "Inside the combine" series on the Suns website so far. Fairly interesting how they question potential draftees.http://m.goldcoastfc.com.au/news/2015-11-04/inside-the-combine-the-go-home-factor
Not sure if this is an article originally published somewhere else but on the Suns site they have a write up about interstate player retention and most of it applies to us as well.
The Tigers just added another top 20 pick in Andrew Moore who was drafted with pick 9. So they will have 17 players on their list selected in the top 20 of the draft come next year. They are edging closer to fielding a 22 of top 20 draft picks.I remember a while back someone posted a list of the number of first round draft picks on each teams list, someone might have that handy actually? Anyway I don't know why it randomly occurred to me but the Tigers have a hell of a lot of top 20 draft picks on their list. I looked back to 2004 and they have recruited the following players in the top 20 since (I have only identified those still on their list):
2004: Brett Deledio Pick 1.
2006: Jack Riewoldt Pick 13.
2007: Trent Cotchin Pick 2.
2007: Alex Rance Pick 18.
2008: Tyrone Vickery Pick 8.
2009: Dustin Martin Pick 3.
2009: Ben Griffiths Pick 19.
2010: Reece Conca Pick 6.
2011: Brandon Ellis Pick 15.
2012: Nick Vlastuin Pick 9.
2013: Ben Lennon Pick 13.
2014: Corey Ellis Pick 12.
On top of this they have recruited the following players who were selected in the top 20: Troy Chaplain, Shaun Grigg and Chris Yarran. They could have drafted/recruited even more players in the top 20 as well as I may have missed some. Anyway for those that I have identified that is 15 players on their list selected in the top 20.
That number will increase to 16 after this years draft as well. That is crazy when you compare to us only having two players on our list selected in the top 20, Rich and Mayes. That will most likely increase to five after this years draft.
I guess a question I have is have the Tigers underachieved considering how many players they have on their list selected in the top 20? I know drafting isn't an exact science and you aren't guaranteed to draft gun players with early picks but with so many you should be able to land a fair few guns. I know most people have already said the Tigers have underachieved due to being knocked out in finals in the first week three years in a row but have they underachieved even further by failing to make top 4 the past couple of years? With so many players on their list selected in the top 20 they should have achieved way more imo.
I can only think of five players out of the 15 currently on their list who could have arguments made in their favour in regards to being A graders and they are Cotchin, Deledio, Riewoldt, Rance and Martin with Brandon Ellis potentially thrown in with that group as well depending on who you ask. If they had of landed another 3-4 players who could player at a similar level as those 5 they would probably have played in a grand final by now imo.
I laughed a little when I heard a few a few Carlton fans complaining on the radio this morning that it was the AFL's fault for taking away their Friday night games and putting them in risk of further debt this yearPoor Carlton...

Gosh it must be tough to have to fall back on asking your 100 wealthiest fans to bail you out every couple of years.....

I laughed harder when former members rang up and said the reasons they did not renew was the way they were continually asked to cough up more and more to retain the same seats or get shifted from year to year and then spoken to in a less than acceptable manner when they gave some actual feedback....but then I remembered similar things from one of our management regimes.I laughed a little when I heard a few a few Carlton fans complaining on the radio this morning that it was the AFL's fault for taking away their Friday night games and putting them in risk of further debt this year
Sadly that has seemed to be a problem across all sports recently. IMO the increase in reserved seating and clubs/leagues/competitions attempting to make more and more money from it has not improved sportI laughed harder when former members rang up and said the reasons they did not renew was the way they were continually asked to cough up more and more to retain the same seats or get shifted from year to year and then spoken to in a less than acceptable manner when they gave some actual feedback....but then I remembered similar things from one of our management regimes.
It appears to me that clubs/sports don't get it - to retain people attending games you actually have to offer more or better - not less and Jack the price up as well. You can't expect TV to pay shitloads and then not have a flow on effect of more people sitting at home watching rather than pay $4.50 for a bottle of tap water!! But somehow they do! There's s tipping point - and we are over it and there's no turning back.Sadly that has seemed to be a problem across all sports recently. Was all this done under Swann or Trigg?I laughed harder when former members rang up and said the reasons they did not renew was the way they were continually asked to cough up more and more to retain the same seats or get shifted from year to year and then spoken to in a less than acceptable manner when they gave some actual feedback....but then I remembered similar things from one of our management regimes.
Swann - allegedlyWas all this done under Swann or Trigg?
Let's hope he doesn't go down that path with us. Hard enough as it is getting members even when we are winning.Swann - allegedly
