Dont think the Tigers have the cattle to pull off their game plan. They are less run and gun and more controlling, long kicking. You need a bigger meaner tougher group to pull that off. A team that at every contest has a better than 50% chance of winning the ball. They have too few players able to do that, and their top end players cant force themselves onto a big game and win it off their own boot.

Would have loved to play that Richmond side round 1, but alas we get the bloody grand finalists over in WA.

Don't think the Blues would have done as well over there.

This week is the best time to play WC. Underdone, new players on the team learning the game plan, we've had a longer pre-season etc. There is reason to be optimistic...though I doubt we will win.

I know it's 24+ hours ago but just watched a 360 ep I IQ'd and straightforward questions about AFL seem to make Charlie Dixon lots confused then and then speak English bad...

Blues are at least trying to play an exciting brand of footy. I did enjoy their game style... not so much the Tigers who have seemed to have slowed up even more since last year.

Weitering started slowly but played very well for a first gamer. Composed beyond his years and doesn't seemed to be rushed at all.

Obligatory annual rant about no football on good Friday. Man it shits me. The Thursday game gets you in the mood and then nothing.

It's the sporting equivalent of your main course coming an hour after you eat your entree.

Feel the same way.

Yep!

*insert standard Good Friday joke about foreplay and then having to wait 2 days for the sex*

Looks like the last year where we will have to endure it at least. SHould be a go for next year.

North have no doubt campaigned hard enough such that it will be their fixture for a while at least also. Not sure if they'll be able to retain the spot long term if they slide down the ladder tho.

The Gold Coast SUNS will field one of its strongest NEAFL squads in recent memory with 20-listed players to take the field against the Brisbane Lions reserves on Saturday afternoon at Metricon Stadium.

With just three players on the club’s injury list, reserves coach Stephen Daniel has a wealth of AFL experience at his disposal for the SUNS’ final NEAFL practice match of the pre-season.
I wonder what the **** it's like to have 42 healthy players.

Oh, and aren't we lucky to have the honour of playing them this week. Glad it's just a practice match.:straining:

Great for the development of our reserves though. The more AFL standard opponents the better.

Anyone else notice the omission of the National Anthem last night?

It probably gets over done a bit, preceding every clash during the Anzac Day round (on top of round 1 and all finals).

Felt odd not having it though!

Do they normally do an anthem in the round 1 opener?

I'll have you know that my parents protested against that cable car!
I'll have you know my dad was the General Manager of that cable car!

(And my grade seven teacher married the son of the owner.)

"A senior AFL insider said Collingwood have had a significant “overrepresentation” when it came to positive illicit drug tests in recent times."

They described their behaviour as “out of the norm in terms of the rest of the clubs’ illicit drug test results. They’ve got a cultural problem.’’

Well known among those that enjoy the Melbourne night life in seedy player owned clubs. I wonder how Eddie will cover this one up? Was only a few hours ago the AFLPA and Collingwood both publicly stated that that they were false positives...

Whatever the case may be the AFL would be doing everything they can to sweep this under the carpet.
