Going off the highlights package the AFL released the other day of him, he looked to play a lot more up forward that game, really highlighted his marking.

Although thats assuming that was footage from this year and not last.

Apologies for the absence yesterday, I have another project taking priority but back tomorrow with a full slate of vids and plenty to catch up on from last weekend.

For any other player this would be worthy of a "Dominant Performance" tag, but for Jagga it was just a good solid outing. One point that I think needs to be emphasised here is that earlier in the year I and other draft watchers had two criticisms of Jagga's play. One, that he didn't apply as much defensive pressure as you would like to see from an inside mid. And two, that he sometimes lacked hurt factor with his possessions and would take the less damaging but safer option instead of going direct. In recent weeks it appears that he's taken this on board (perhaps his coaches were also giving him the same feedback) as the defensive side of his game in particular has improved dramatically. Not to mention he's now using his pace to break clear with attacking forward runs, and biting off much more attacking options by foot. He's even started to hit the scoreboard more frequently. There's very little left in his game to criticise any more.

Murphy Reid filled out the stat sheet very nicely in another excellent performance as he and his Sandy Dragons continue their march towards potentially another flag. When the conditions get breezy, it just allows Murphy to separate himself from the rest, showing his class and elite control of the footy. He hit targets with ease and made a couple of his goals look simple from difficult opportunities. His clearance work is worth highlighting this week, his movement and clean hands at ground level was elite and he applied defensive pressure which hasn't always been a strength.

Ollie Hannaford is coming home with a wet sail in the tail end of the season. A move into the forward line has paid huge dividends for both him and the Rebels as his bags of goals have helped to propel them on an excellent run of form. He's high energy, quick and agile with a low center of gravity which lets him weave through traffic, he's surprisingly strong and capable of out wrestling opponents, and most importantly of all, he has more than a touch of audaciousness with the footy.

A second straight 4 goal game for Harry Armstrong who appears to be firming as top key forward prospect in the pool and a top 10 fancy in the minds of many. He had a quieter period towards the end of the regular Talent League season, but has turned it on again so far in this finals series providing the forward 50 target his team needs and the goals required to push them towards yet another Dragons flag.

In this game Bo Allan was given a chance to play as one of Peel's primary onballers on the big stage of a prelim final. It wasn't a prolific game for Bo, but he acquitted himself well and put together a few exiting passages of play to tease watchers with his immense potential. The defensive side of the game is where Allan is most accomplished and impactful at this stage, and where he's likely to immediately contribute most strongly at AFL level. His athleticism and physicality allow him to close space rapidly and lay powerful tackles, and he's diligent when playing the sweeping role on the defensive side of the contest. The moments when he tucks the ball under his arm and bursts free of congestion before roosting a deep and penetrating left foot ball into the forward 50 are what get's everyone excited for what he might be capable of in the future.

While we wait for the vods to drop for the weekend's games, let's go back a week to the quarter final where Jonty Faull played Robin to Hannaford's Batman as they booted 10 goals between them, Faull bagging 4. He was a little more fumbly than he typically is, and most of his goals came from a touch fortune or being in the right place at the right time, but he was busy all game and presented as a critical target and outlet around the ground.

How do you see his game different to Smillies? Similar heights, it looks as though Jack is more your in and under where Josh is more second receiver?

No I'd say the opposite is true if anything. Smillie has consistently had some of the best clearance numbers at every level he's played this year. Ough is also proficient with his stoppage work at Talent League level, but less exposed form there being a recent(ish) convert.

Both are light on their feet for their size, Smillie a little more likely to try and carry the footy inside to out where Ough looks for a quick possession. Both of them okay overhead but not elite, especially for their size... Ough perhaps a little better there. Smillie hits the scoreboard more consistently, and is more attacking with his disposal. Ough has nice touch and vision to hit a lead up target, but plays within his capabilities. Neither are defensive dynamos, or overly physical with their play style.

It would have been nice to get a look at Ough playing inside mid at the Champs, or a VFL game... he's much more of a risk than Smillie just due to his later emergence I think.

This was a definite step up for Finn compared to his disappointing outing last week, much more influential and involved with the play, but unfortunately his Chargers went down to the Rebels, ending his season. The Chargers only have themselves to blame for this loss, squandering countless opportunities, both from relatively easy goal scoring opportunities and some awful final balls into F50 with Finn himself responsible for a couple. With the game on the line he took a brilliant mark deep in the forward pocket, but hit the wrong side of the footy on his attempted banana which proved to be the Chargers final chance to retake the lead.

Favourite is Sam Lalor. I understand why he won't go at pick 1, but I love the way he plays, his ability to dominate a game in all facets, and his elite physicality.

The 21st and last video for Jagga Smith who's carried this channel for much of the year while other top prospects have been injured or playing school footy. He ends the season as he's played most of it, with elite consistency across four quarters punctuated with moments of brilliance. Whichever team pulls the trigger on Jagga up near the pointy end of the draft order will not regret their choice.

Another fantastic game from Levi as he propels his Dragons towards what feels like an inevitable 3rd straight Talent League flag. He played more in the forward 50 this week, but still racked up a stack of the footy and damaged with his use by hand and foot kicking two goals of his own and setting up teammates for scoring opportunities.

A fantastic individual season from Harvey Langford finally came to an end as he wasn't able to lift his team to victory over the Sandy Dragons who've become the final boss of the Talent League in recent years. He's already taken home the Larke medal, and must be one of the hottest favourites for the Morrish medal which would cap off a glittering season of consistently elite play in which he stepped up at every level and met every challenge along the way.
