My personal view, from Tigers perspective, is that there is not a lot of difference between getting a second player out of FOS/Lalor/Smith at pick 2 than getting Smillie/Langford at pick 6. So I would not be looking at involving pick 6 in a trade.
However, who knows what the recruitment team are thinking - are they set on a specific dynamic duo?

What about the possibilities of trading 10 & 11 for pick 2 while keeping pick 6?
It means missing on 2 of (for example) Travaglia, Lindsay, Armstrong, Berry for a second player out of FOS/Lalor/Smith and still getting Smilie/Langford.
That is definitely worth considering, especially if players like Berry, Hotton, Shanahan are a reasonable chance to be available at our pick 18 and are viewed close enough quality to those available at 10.

Would that also be attractive to North? Picks 10 & 11 instead of pick 2?
Would North prefer one of FOS/Lalor/Smith/Draper or two of Travaglia, Lindsay, Armstrong, Berry, Tauru, Trainor ?
Or, prefer other options involving trading out future first to get one from each group?
10+11 means both our preferred targets could be gone. Pick 6 involved more unlikely.
Pick 2 means for you that your absolute preferred 2 targets are at Punt road.
There is no real clear pick one this year, but there's not a massive imaginary gap to the 2nd bloke.
The top 4 look like locks to me.

who are your top 4 excluding NGA/FS?

For me (in no real order) Lalor, FOS, Draper and Smith

If that happens again just shut the club down

8/9 wind should be a min and there is no reason they wont achieve that with double up games against the bottom 6 teams of 2024

There were games where North looked a million dollars for 3 / 4 of the game only to give up leads
That wont happen in 2025

North wont be bottom 3

So realistically, how many games do you see us winning next year? Because even if we double our number of wins next season, we are still bottom 3.

There seems to be a narrative that North are desperate for a key position tall. Charlie Comben established himself as a genuine game breaker this year and his future could be at either end of the ground. We also drafted a first round key defender Will Dawson last year who is tracking well. There is also a speculative tall we took at pick 2 in the rookie draft last year Finnbar Maley who was high in the VFL b&f as a first year playing forward/ruck. Then we have our AA key forward, a fit Logue, an improved Corr and an aging yet still capable Darling.
If North took one of the big 4 mids at pick 2 it would be fine. We are still to yet find our perfect midfield mix. The only 2 mids who are strictly CBA types are LDU and Wardlaw. The others are all very flexible.
There is quite a bit of depth for key position players in this draft and North could package F2 and F3 to get back in a bit later in the second round where there could still be Sims, O'Farrell, Gerryn, Mraz or Nichols to add to the developing stocks.

between 7-9/10

It would not surprise me to see North really jump up next year
There is way too much talent on the list that is young and now have 2-3-4 years in the system that are ready
and with experience heads in the team things could change quickly. I very much doubt you are bottom 4 next year

I hope you're right but I don't share your confidence

Why - we have so many over the last few years - I would prefer quality over quantity.

Once you get out of the top 4 picks the chances of the player being a bust goes through the roof.
That’s really not an accurate statement, there’s obviously some drafts were there is a standout players like Reid obviously you would want a kings ransom to trade those picks this isn’t one of them, you also see plenty of drafts were players in the 5-10 range even teen picks end up being better players

So this is the 1st year in the history of the draft that later picks are as good as the early ones??

I would be praying for that as well is I was in the Tigers position. Odds are - you're wrong.
So You don’t remember Cripps , bont , Selwood, naugnton all ended up being better players then the majority taken before them in the top5 , I’m not saying it happens every draft but there is normally always a player taken later that ends up one of the better players in the draft

I can't see us trading 6 in less it was for massive overs, we have no reason to trade it given the quality of player we will get at 6.

In a lot of people's mock drafts, you have guys like Jagga Smith potentially sliding to that pick and either way at worst you going to get is Smillie/Langford who at some stages anyway have been called the number #1 pick at least in Smillie's case.

Only way we trade up is if we are desperate for FOS instead of Jagga/Langford/Smiley. Otherwise there is no need to move up, seems likely Lalor goes at 1 now.

I'm sure you've read how even this draft is. Don't ask stupid questions.
Yeah and unlike some I am smart enough not to believe everything I read.

He's a great mix of traits that every club would want to bring into their midfield: he's tough and puts his head over the ball, he's quick, marks well above his head and can go forward to kick a goal (which he does with regularity). He played some dominant games across the year and stands up when his team needs him.

The hard-working Norwood midfielder has shown he can match it with senior types playing in the SANFL, but he has also played well at under-18 level. Recruiters tend to think he plays best as a wingman, where he uses his endurance, turn of speed and sweeping left foot kick to cut through teams, but he has also played in an inside midfield role at stages too.

The Oakleigh Chargers midfielder has been viewed as a top-10 player in this year's group for some time now, having starred for Vic Metro at the under-16s championships and then last year averaging 22 disposals and four tackles in the NAB League. He is a midfield bull who extracts the ball at will, is sharp by hand and can also push forward and hit the scoreboard. He's tough, consistent and ready to play, and has been closely monitored throughout this season by clubs with early selections.

One of the most attacking midfielders in the draft he uses his speed and smarts to win plenty of the ball on the inside and outside. The natural ball winner would finally get to play for Vic Metro and would end the game with 29 disposals and five clearances and was only two possessions off Will Ashcroft, who was the highest ball winner for the game. He was not able to back up his strong pre-season testing at the National Combine, but was impressive in interviews with the well spoken Charger embracing the pressure and how he may have to play interstate at the next level.

Recent top 5 picks - Dow, Stephens, Phillips and Tstats.

Thats a massive pass mark if we get over 7 wins.

Weren't you just telling me how big the drop off after the top 4 usually is?

Well when is the time North is going to make a move ?
2019 carlton were 16th
Melbourne were 17th

2020 melbourne 9th and Carlton 11 th

North have been on the bottom for 4 years now and have drafted enough talent and shown signs last year they are ready to jump up and could easily have had 6 wins this year if not for giving up leads.

Another year of development into the high end talent combined with organic growth of the talent on the list and depth with the 4 new and 3 mature player in Darling , Parker , Daniel

Time has come and the team should be ready to take the next step
If bottom 4 again then there is bigger problems than just talent

If Nth can take a mid at Pick 2, they should keep it 100%

Only problem is they traded Pick 25

If they kept 25, they could 100% traded it for 2 picks, 1 in the 30s, 1 in the 40s, maybe more and kept F1.

They would have then taken FOS, and someone like Faull/Simms and Barrat.
