I really hate agreeing with the Nostril, but Craven does look like our weakest link at the moment, she is clever in open space but she is easily outmuscled in the contest. We are going to need stronger bodies if we are going to match it with the Dees later in the season.
Embrace it. It’s fun to be right more often than not

I’d have Granville or Consildine in over craven or fumbles smith

We have the wings covered with gatt and Pullar and only need 1 of the above

I think I’d drop craven just before smith but it’s fairly line ball tbh

Dude, a broken watch is right more often than you. I can count all the times I've agreed with you on my right hand, and I'm missing three fingers. :)

And I don't agree with you about Smith, she is a big bodied defensive mid with the ability to curtail the influence the oppositions top midfielder, she will be one of the first picked each week.

missing 3 fingers how? Unlucky my guy

We’ll settle for Granville/considine in for craven next week

Smith keeps her spot until Bruton comes back to replace her

Great win by the team today…and how awesome is this…

Its why l love this club…. and the song with dads in there singing…awesome….it’s why opposition supporters never ever get us, or our connections to many our community groups…….reverting to brain dead norf comments coz that’s all they have… members of soulless clubs…

Think the crows and dees are the ones to hunt….but we are right in it….

geez the news tonight on ch7 was ordinary…. 5 seconds about us in the review…and North Melbourne beat the Saints by 40 points..that’s it….pathetic…

Bruton's not replacing Smith, she is either replacing Craven (or her replacement) or Tripodi, which may be a little harsh on Ruby.

Just checked that stats to see that my impression watching the game was correct and Amy Smith had the highest tackle count on our team. You’d have to try hard not to see the value she adds.

I don't generally favour knee-jerk demands for team changes, especially following a big win, and after today, I'm not changing that policy. But anyone who says Pullar was clearly better than Smith and Craven was not watching the game. I'm sure Lulu will play many terrific games for North Melbourne. Today, she was not terrific. Granted, she may have contributed off the ball in areas that can't easily be detected on TV. But from what I could see, Craven and Smith had better games.

Cute clip from the club of the jumper presentations in the rooms today. Jas presented Kate with her jumper and was saying it was a long time coming and she already felt part of the group, Kate had tears, Kearns had tears, just lovely. And she is such a weapon too.
Yeah anyone who has been to a NMFC AFLW function will attest, Kate has virtually been part of the club for years.

Also, 4 score involvements, 3 interceptions and 8 contested possessions which was 4th most behind Garner, Riddell and Mia King. She isn't a superstar like Garner, but she is the type of player that does the dirty work that allows Garner to do her "superstar" stuff. She isn't someone you drop because she has limitations, otherwise three quarters of the team isn't playing next week.

On the AFL website there’s a doco called final 4…there’s an interesting little bit at the start ( 2.50) with Bec Godard chatting to gilroy…. Short but interesting conversation….lm not over the entire reason why she walked as some of you are …particularly after their bf night where she was in attendance according to posters ….but this got me thinking as it sounded like she was a) gone prior to that night… and B)Godard having a comment of one of my key weapons is we dont walk past #$$ standards here….as reinforcement of a part of her sales pitch ….might be reading way to much into this but it felt like a swipe at our club…

ironic after what happened at hawks re racism report….but had a chuckle at their motto on the board which flashed up…

The "entire reason" Gilly left is money.

Bec Goddard has explicitly criticised North Melbourne in the past. It would be quicker to name the AFLW coaches who haven't done that.

Craven is a footballer - granted she’s lacking in foot speed but she can find the ball and uses well most of the time.
And what was with aints bumping/ pushing our players every time the umps called for a ball up - but were never seen when the ball was in play.
Especially that little rat lambert

She was quite vocal, in a negative way, about our poaching of players and that we should have been banned from the draft for a thousand years.

I think 80-90% of our squad is different to the one on inception and our on-field strength has allowed a number of new clubs poach players without us capitulating on-field. I think the way we have gone about it was the right way, look at Geelong, they have sucked arse ever since they came in and have had to be spoon fed draft picks for years to be remotely competitive... I don't see how that was a win for the game or the spectacle.

She really sounds like a lovely individual,..not …..bit ironic being vocal about that and then doing exactly that to set up that side…as from what l can see from last night her hawks team is going nowhere fast….dons gone past them in skills .
agree with the make up of our side and player retention and acquisitions…
and heck yes with cats…don’t forget there requests to play at that soulless stadium.
Thanks for the info…much appreciated

She is okay, just opinionated. Nothing wrong with that. She wasn't alone in not being happy with the way we went about it. She is all for the better players to move around now... for the good of the game.

We would want to go 7-0 to be guaranteed top four. Playing Melbourne away from Casey Fields is nice but still a really tough matchup, and Adelaide in Adelaide is always hard

Need to win one of those ... obviously both is preferred.

I understand they were punching and bumping a lot off the ball and off screen too. Grubby campaigners.

Never saw the news, but The Age was very scant on detail today. About a third of a page devoted to three games, including ours, with (naturally) the Richmond game getting a bit more of a write up plus, they even had the scores, goals kicked details and best players.

Most of the sport section was taken up talking about the upcoming QF between Collingwood and Melbourne, plus a bit about Carlton. that should be for later this week, not today.

I am very disappointed to see that unlike after a men's round, where they publish the ladder, details of every game over the weekend and the next weeks, fixture, the Women's game is getting nothing of that.

It is absolutely not good enough. The AFLW is a genuine football competition, it is the equivalent of the men's competition, yet it is being treated like it is just an afterthought.

As I said, not good enough on any measure.

If your newspaper loves running articles about how the AFL disrespects the women's league, maybe your newspaper should buck the trend and show the women's league some respect in the form of decent coverage.

To be fair, the AFL and the newspapers give AFLW about the same (dis)respect as the administrators and mods right here on BigFooty. Just as afl.com.au has a separate and largely hidden tab (below the fold as they say in web design circles) that you have to click into to get all of your AFLW info in one place, so too is all AFLW discussion hidden under a single tab rather than separate topics for game day, players, trades and drafting, latest news etc.

Yes it would be good if we could all have the same attitude to men's and women's footy. Instead we get posters in this thread insisting "fierce arguments" aren't allowed because women's footy discussion is supposed to be nicer.
