This literally never happens. These deals always get done one way or another. If by some chance North forces him to stay he'll spend another year where he doesn't want to be, play s**t footy and probably get dropped a bunch and his trade value will be whittled down to a first round pick. It's a s**t position for North to be in, especially considering everything else that's going on but with these situations you just have to cut your losses. Most clubs have had to face this.

This literally happened with Tim Kelly. And Josh Dunkley. And Rory Lobb.

Plenty of times a player has been held to his contract. Happened to Lobb just last year

Tim Kelly and Bryce Gibbs too, in recent memory.

In all seriousness, this is a great outcome for North and still quite fair to the rest of the competition.

Logue is a very good get and paired with McKay makes a very nice KPD duo to build around. Getting another high pick would've pissed off more clubs and probably woudln't move the needle much for 2023.

I have no animosity towards Griffin Logue and Darcy Tucker.

No doubt the Freo board stuffed up the Griffin Logue situation.

Had Freo gave him 2 year deal at the end of 2021 or even a couple of rounds in to the 2022 season, Logue would be here until 2024 and a free agent.

He needs to be playing in his own backline and the only way that happens at freois if you lose someone from your current backline (permanantly or for at least a season.)

He's too good not to be playing. Whether he's better than the guys you currently have is another issue. But either way the value of your current backline developing together over seasons might outweight a little bit more talent, if he even has it.

Yes the priority pick caused tanking but nobody would tank to be this shit for 4 years straight.
