The amount of celebrating North fans are doing is embarrassing. Embracing mediocrity (or rather something much worse)

North fans would be jumping over the moon for mediocrity. They've been a special kind of poo.

Let them celebrate - it's been a rough four years.

The logic and reasoning have been posted so many times before, you lot just refuse to admit it lol, here we go again.

The AFL know and understand if any of the Northern clubs spend years on the bottom of the ladder then their 'fans' will drop off in droves, so the AFL needs to artificially prop them up and keep them successful. It's crucial for the media income that the AFL receives.

Use your club as evidence. Sydney is capable of attracting the best talent and doesn't lose players any more players to the go home factor than any other club in the competition. Therefore, your pathetic excuse just isn't valid.

Everyone knows it, everyone accepts it, no idea why you have to try and convince yourself of this bullshit story about losing players to the 'go home' factor. get your hand off it,
Imagine your 2 top pieces of evidence are plainly untrue. We have to go back over a decade since the last big name came to Sydney, despite our attempts, and laughable commentary about the go home factor.

Also, I didn't bring up the northern academies, why would I, it's not what this thread is about, but people will do anything to distract.

This is an absolute disgrace on so many levels. Seething. Once again the VFL cares nothing for the integrity of the game.

North did this to themselves. Whats the lesson? If you stuff it up, stuff it right up and the AFL will come and bail you out. Stuff it up just a bit and midtable clubs can happily languish there.

The 2024 picks are even more disturbing - they are effectively encouraging North to be awful for next year too. Do too well and you might lose 2x 1st rounders. It's competition-sanctioned tanking.
Spot on, your last point in particular shows how flipping stupid they really are 😂

It’s not a VFL decision though, they’ve given Norf a full kitty so they can get up to pick 4 and load GC up with further picks too. It helps both their little pet projects

Surely it's not true they they can trade next years picks that are apparently subject to review?

If there are priority pick rules, North had to get something. But in my view they should have to be traded for current players. Three 18 year olds isn't going to help them in the next 2-3 years. By that stage, surely with the amount of youth and high picks they've already had they'll be decent anyway.

Really happy. I think a lot of things were already in place to get better but now we have the ammo to really target the issues in our list composition with regards to defence, outside run and talls.

I'll expect we'll throw a few picks together to grab pick 4 from GC and take Curtin, McKercher and Watson but after that we'll still likely have a few other first rounders left to pick up some sliders at the end of the draft or trade future picks for need.

What a disgrace.

Three first round picks....that's the best package in history surely.

Well North fans you can now shut up about it being your turn for assistance. You've gotten 5 priority picks in 3 years. Absolutely unprecedented.

You know the beggars will be asking for more in 2025.

The shinboner Spirit is dead.

I'd say that the 2024 "to be reviewed" picks are really like last year's 2x priority picks which came with a caveat that they must be traded. By giving North an (unlikely) option not to trade but then risk them being reviewed, North retain a little more leverage in trade negotiations than if they were 100% forced to have them off their hands by the end of the trade period this year.

I like how you completely ignore your main argument, which is losing players to the 'go home' factor.

Everyone knows why Sydney have one, don't come onto Bf trying to bullshit it's something other than the AFL trying to artificially prop up your team, all you are doing is making yourself look like a fool.

Who would want them if the Roos jump up the ladder and the AFL decides to get rid of them ?

Are they untouchable if traded? The news doesnt seem to say.
If they're traded this year they will not be reviewed.

Hurh hurh my club is so s**t that they keep getting free stuff from the AFL! eat that, jealous haters!! LOL!

embarrassing stuff.
Embarrassing is blowing your draft picks on a bloke who gets 10 touches a game, which has now ruined your chances of drafting a multiple AA ruckman that could actually take you to a flag.

Top 4 finish in 3 of last 4 years, with home prelims, for no GF.

Pathetic.

Very fair outcome for North, we now have the opportunity to build a very strong draft hand and build strongly over next few years. Despite what many think I and most Nmfc supporters hate being in this position. Unlike last year’s package this one if used correctly gives us a real opportunity to build in an ongoing sense.
The pressure is on. Stuff up these gifts and there is nowhere to run and hide. Is there anyone else left they can blame?

North folding would be a good outcome for the AFL. This is awful.
What an absolute melt.
