Re: North lashes out at critics

OK, so it is now obvious that Caro and the little help Hawthorne are involved in a personal crusade. No journalism involved.

Re: North lashes out at critics

Facts are facts. It is not about parroting them, it is about nottaking some figures out of a financial report and taking them out of context or having the brain power to realise outside of a handful of clubs everyone else is pretty much in a similar position or has been in recent times.

Re: North lashes out at critics

There are too many teams, 18 when gws are finally up and running makes it too much, it looks cumbersome and some of the crowds in the next few years are going to look rugby league like. The talent is going to be spread way too thin. 18 can not work in the long run. This is a bad time to be shit, my club could not have timed it any better !
Collingwood are laughing, they are having a beautiful run at the moment and by the time the two new teams are up and running they would have tucked 2 or 3 flags away and will not care as the 2 new ones start dominating.
The thing with North is that they have put a fantastic list together and, along with Melbourne will be pushing for a flag in the near future, but then again as always it comes down to dollars and cents, how long does the afl keep the blank cheques coming ?
18 is too much.

Re: North lashes out at critics

How is a clubs dire financial situation not newsworthy?

It would be newsworthy if the situation was dire, but it is not.

If the situation was dire we would cut back spending to 2007 levels and put that extra $3m p.a. into debt reduction. We don't need to shake tins to pay out our debt.

It is just piss poor business to attempt to pay debts during rebuild cycle where you are not pulling in as much money as you would in a peak cycle and you need the money in player development to get into a peak cycle and expand the business.

You would do it if the situation was dire, the fact we haven't should be a clear indication of where we are given the AFL has been active with the club in terms of following the business plan.

If they had any real concern they could have asked us to cut back spending a little and direct it to debt repayment.

Re: North lashes out at critics

This is correct. I mean why aren't we picking on Carlton? They are still deep in debt, have been propped up by the AFL and have less chance of on field success with their current list than North Melbourne.

Because Carlton would ignore them, they would get a lot of readers pissed off with their tabloid, most sane North supporters have long stopped reading the age, the potential backlash for making things up about us would be minimal.

You will note it is not a common theme, when we had real issues it was commonly reported in the Australian, the Sun and the Age. This is just some petty vendetta Wilson has because she is constantly put down as a crap journalist, when she comes out with doozies like "commonly known in football circles" and implies AD backs her comments without providing any quotes at all you know she is full of shit.

She has said before she will make up things to sell newspapers, which is what they are doing now. Her articles are more a burning concern about her newspaper's ability to survive in the modern age as a credible source of news than anything to do with us.

Re: North lashes out at critics

No where near as bad as North, how does Carlton get in this topic? lol..

It was brought up in the Age article. Maybe Carlton should post a "here's the facts" response on their website like NM. Lol. I don't think most neutrals understand what our debt is :p

Because they are making a profit, have a large supporter base, a good stadium deal and a large number of wealthy supporters who will help the club out when it's needed?

Re: North lashes out at critics

Must be extremely frustrating being a North supporter, going to bed each evening not knowing if their club will be around when they wake in the morning. You do have to admire their optimism though.
Funny world this football world.

From a distance you'd think North was building huge facilities, growing in sponsors, beginning an era of onfield dominance, hired a great coach, increased spending on football and were/are a bees dick from cementing the clubs future playing a few profitable games in Ballarat.

But according to this sports main opinion writer, Brayshaw is a cancer on North and the club is going backwards to an early grave.

Still cant believe there's a man in drag spewing such lies and belittling the obvious huge strides the club has made.

Strange strange world.

Theres an awesome video of Stephen Kernahan at a carlton gathering a while back where he has a few words to say about Caro and a few others in the media.

You know what the sad thing is, at least from the normal punter - if you're having a chinwag with your mates - Financial situation of clubs and attendances are not the common topics of conversation.

But I think most journos that obviously source their information from here, believe that most of the mental giants here represent the general football public.

The level of interest and even with some posters here - borders on obsessive. The anger of how an opposition club goes off-field, really boggles the mind.

Have no problem with people debating topics in a fair manner, but far out it's sad the level of journalism in Australia has stooped to the level of British tabloids and caters to those feverish obsessive w***ers that spew the same shit over and over on this particular board.

Yep, unusual medium how a lot of these sprays are from teenages who have only known football since flooding and can no longer bully at school and still have a curfew.

They're just getting in a few kicks while North is still at their level on-field and happens to currently be a weaker target for the bunk bed warriors to have something to post about.

What would some of them post about if not North?

While there's just as much passion opposing the club, the future is bright, as the rebound from these events can often go beyond the natural flow.

There's way too many strong building blocks in place at North for these cardboard swords from Caro and bigfooty to collapse the club before onfield or even Ballarat takes control of the clubs destiny.

a billion dollars + in TV revenue should be able to keep a couple of 'underdog' clubs going.

Once the AFL fully becomes corporation v corporation, the soul will be lost.

Re: North lashes out at critics

The inevitable Ballarat deal, Brad Scott and recruiting have obviously made the worms squirm and its rather amusing seeing some of the last kicks to North while on the ground.

You're delluded if you think the "Ballarat deal" will have any long term benefit to your club. Just another market the Kangaroos will go to, then abandon, while dilluting the 'Melbourne' market they claimed to be so dedicated to.

Any passionate football supporters in Ballarat will already have a team they follow, and willing to travel a couple of hours once a fortnight or so to see. So I guess your targetting 'dispassionate' football supporters there? - hasn't the Kangaroos got enough dispassionate supporters already?

Kangaroos need to accept there hope to prosper is to a move to Tasmania - a football market where people can't drive to Melbourne to see another team regularly. And a market they could seal up as there own, seeing them overtake many other Victorian clubs as a viable club. And if done right, could still see them over 9 game Melbourne memberships on top of there Tasmanian memberships.

Exactly. And North will only play crap teams there like Port, Suns and Freo etc. And Eureka stadium is the worst in Australia by a mile. Its a first class shit hole on the outskirts of Ballarat and has the worst weather. It will be a novelty in Ballarat for a year or so, but unless the ground attracts two quality Victorian teams it will fail. Why else, apart from election spin has Brumby, and now Baillieu show no strong commitment to it.

Nah, you're way wrong about Ballarat.

Will see the club leap Footscray, Melbourne, St Kilda, Richmond within 5 years and they know it.

Spare me.

And to pull you (and some of your mates up) on another thing...

You seem to think this "era of dominance" you're "about to enter" is a given.

Do you think your budgets include provision for this "era of dominance"?

You might have a couple of decent kids, but who doesn't?!

Ah yes, typical "I don't have anything else to contribute to Bigfooty so may as well keep having a crack at a club that's currently on par with my club' poser.

If the Dogs can spend years in the 8, anyone can.

And the response is the typical failure to logically address the question posed.

If I want to learn how to win a Brownlow, i'll ask you (dogs fan).

Other than that, you'd be doing bloody well to know the first thing about quality kids, teams, coaches.
