With all the talk about the bulldogs being a young team and this being one of excuses for the bulldog loss, lets look at the real facts even with boomer in the team bringing our average age up.
So if the media won't to talk about inexperience and young teams as they do with the likes of Melbourne, Bulldogs and Port they might wont to do a bit more research, but maybe it doesn't fit the agenda.

Because we are so beyond discussing our youth and should instead be discussing their actual output. That isn't to say guys like Ziebell can't get even better, just that if they aren't having a good output most weeks at this stage then we have to start questioning our player development.

"Fair answer", with out wanting to sound negative I just feel the media never gave us the grace to develop the club with our young players, as they have with other clubs, I know BS never used the excuse of having young inexperienced players as excuse for losing, but most of the time that was the reality." Just listened to BS on the Sunday footy show point out that we were younger with less experience in relation to a statement made by one of the panel members as to the development of the bulldogs. He was just alerting the media as to how we are still learning and have a long way to go, very happy to hear a coach point that out after a win as apposed to using it as a excuse for a loss. It's just a shame the media don't bother to do the research on our club as they do with other clubs, maybe with us hopefully wining more game and Maj bringing us some attention things may change.

That gave me the shits in 2010-11 too (say, compared to Melbourne) but IMO we're past that. Do we have a young side? Yes. Will they get better? Yes. But in contrast to back then instead of saying "we're getting games into the kids" we should be saying "they're improving and we can look forward to a decade of this group playing together".

Got my vote :thumbsu:

No it is because YOU are beyond discussing our youth. Shit mate this is an Internet forum where people offer up their opinions and pose topics of discussion. A concept you fail to comprehend. What was the thread you started about not wanting the forum to be excusing our poor performances away any longer? I told you then and im telling yah now that this is BigFooty.

Shit even Brad Scott mentioned our age vs the Dogs on the Sunday Footy Show. So the topic has relevance because it is a matter of fact.

P.S. :stern look

My sons little league team's ave Age is 7 years 4 months, and we belted (little league belted, so 4 goals) a side whos ave age was 7 years 6 months on Saturday. Their premiership window is probably 7 years away, as their are no grand finals until under 13's in our league.

Means SFA if we are beaten by 10 goals this weekend. Need to HTFU to beat the Eagles.

3 players between 50 and 150 games tells the story. How they'd love to have Harbrow and Ward in there!

The Bulldogs recruited Akermanis and Hall, effectively robbing at least 2 developing players of game time which would have them in the 50 - 150 games bracket now. You make your bed and you lay in it.

We do have a lot of youth in the team. The best thing is they're improving and we can look forward to a decade of this group playing together.

They recruited those guys to win a flag. Their error was not doing it sooner.

Without analyzing the Bulldogs situation in depth (as I don't have the time nor do I have the intention to do so), their sudden fall from grace in Eade's final year was staggering. They were a team that was basically not far from Geelong's level in their Prelim years, and Geelong is now demonstrating clearly what is possible with smart list management and good recruiting and trading. Eade aside, I wonder if any people in their footy department have been made to pay the price for the kind of poor list management that has got them into this position? For their sake, I hope they got rid of those individuals.

They weren't that close to Geelong. The Dogs rarely beat other top 4 aspirants and IIRC never won a qualifying final to get through to a prelim. In 2010 they were lucky to beat Sydney in the second week of finals.

The fact they lacked the polish or whatever else to make the final step, doesn't explain the fall all the way to the bottom, after losing only a handful of players.

It will only get worse with Gia, Murphy, Boyd, Cross all coming to the end.

The fact they were never that close to Geelong in the first place does explain why they haven't stayed in finals contention.
