Re: Northern Football League Division 2

Does anyone know of any restrictions to be enforced this year, such as training on fields, etc... ?[/quote]

Clubs are meeting the Whittlesea council 12th Dec, should know more then.

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

does any1 actually rate eppings chances? cant see them playing finals myself, not a club i would imagine blokes walking of the street into as it has a bad name among a number of ex players

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

one thing i agree with you on.
Ron's not the only one copping it. happening from both sides of the fence.
Both equally gutless.

Whats been happening at Lower? havent heard much from them over the past few months.

RAAV,

Lower started training on 12th November with good numbers on the track.

New football manager appointed who has had a very positive impact around the club.

Club received a letter and phone call from the council advising that no pre season training is allowed on any Banyule Council grounds until further notice.

epping are slipping away, alot of young players who dont rate too highly. finish 7-10 most likely.

Time will tell !!:)

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

Macleod met last night with good numbers. It was fantastic to see quite a few of the UNDER 17's and UNDER 19's committed to do pre-season with the senior group. Hopefully some of them will push for senior selection during the year.

About 15 new senior faces - I won't name names just yet until they are signed, but looks like there will be added grunt this year.

Training starts tomorrow so we'll have a better indication as to who
of the new faces are committed or not.

Boxing gloves are on

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

interesting that you say that about there young players, a large number of the mernda u19s side from last year were ex epping players.

Yeh, thats true, but it was only a 19s gf... most sides play there good 19 players, and mernda didnt choose to, good on them on having the 19s flag but good on lalor for having the senoirs flag... ? lol.

Lets wait and see once there 19s hit senoirs...

that was just the feel i got from people. doesnt worry me how epping go this year, id just like to see the season get up. whats the general thought on lower plenty, they were quick and moved the ball well last season. waddles going down surely took its toll. will that style of play win them the grannie tho, mecleod played that style last year, then in finals the more physical lalor side got up.

People outside of Lower can think what they like, but those within the club know how unlucky we were with key injuries at a crucial time last year. But cant do much about that now!!! As for next year, far too early to give any indication. Dont know whether other sides will be stronger or weaker, or whether we will be for that matter. All I know is that our numbers at training have been double that of previous seasons and everyone is working extra hard to get themselves in the best condition possible - many blokes even getting together to do extra sessions.

Dunno bout your injuries as such last year, although they did inhibit you guys from full potential, however I do agree that Lower had one of the best outfits going around.

Have it on good authority that we were about 5th in total player payments in divi 2 last season, so might want to get your facts right buddy!!! We had too many young blokes running around last season to be paying big bucks. We went down that track when we were in divi 1 and have taken a totally different approach now. I think you'll find that South Morang and Whittlesea is where all the movement is going on, so must be some cash being thrown around there. BUT I THINK WE'VE ALREADY HEARD ENOUGH ABOUT THAT!!!

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

pretty sure whittlesea spends 3000 a week on players. highest paid player was on 300 last year.

not much really.

i know epping spent 100000 in 2006 which includes coaches and trainers.

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

checkmy post. said 2006. which was 2 seasons ago.

didnt play at epping in 2007 so have no idea what the paid last season

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

as we stand at the moment theres going tobe an uneven bye round for next season. will finals be determined by a wining % as the19s were this last season.

Re: Northern Football League Division 2

I find it difficult to believe that ppl from opposing clubs know how much other clubs are spending on players. That info isn't just readily available for anyone to know and any talk of player payments would be nothing but inuendo and rumours. I wouldn't think that any President or Tresurer would come on this site or tell the opposition what they spend on players. Sure we know most clubs pay money but for ppl to know where they rank in the league on player payments and know exactly how much a club spends on player payments is garbage!!!

spot on mate, but it's a talking point. i think an earlier post from mase06 states his club pays about $3,000 a week. that's a fair bit to go around, but i know their chubby little skipper gets $650 a game and an unlimited supply of party pies!! 1300 units a week gets you a few quaddies at the TAB....

Hey ya Snorta, how has the pre-season found you? Skin-folds need to decrease?
I agree with your point on the surface, although your justification is a little off. AGM's is where the true figure is revealed. And when I say true, I use that term loosely. Now the NFL has introduced contracts, payments can be revealed. Clubs expenditure on commodities, officials, rooms etc etc are outlined, and so too players payments, as a whole. Individual payments are more what rumour and innuendo.
Did you go to your clubs recent AGM? What were the figures your treasurer presented? Did your club spend TPP of $ 3,000 + each week? If so, did you see any of it? When the player gets the balls to go to their commitee and demand payment, he also realises that he has the power to hold the club at ransom.
I know I have changed tack here, although this in another reason why I dislike the new transfer system. It should be the club before the player. Not the other way round. '09 transfers are going to bring a lot of angst to many clubs. Ala our Sth Morang vs W'Sea. Morang cannot hold financial players, and a mass exodus may be on the cards.
Just have a look at Ressa and pre '08 season. Brought the club to their knees, and almost sunk them.

I disagree sorry, if the players do not want to stay at the club, its there choice to leave, the club should not hold them back, otherwise it will leave the player not playing, or playing at a club he doesnt want to be at, and not givin 100%. Also, if there is a masive walk out from a club, there must be something wrong for the masive walk out to happen in the first place. So denying clearances or holding players back wont solve the problem, in my opinion anyway...
