i agree that fitzroy will be a very good side. but are about 21 good players short of a top 4 side in div 1. they are probably a year or so off threatening for the flag. mcleod have choked for a number of years now but with the players they picked up if they dont win it this year they should give up all together

Not sure who you are referring to, but Macleod have only got back Lynch, Corr & Watts who are all home grown, and lost Brandt to retirement.
No one else is confirmed, cleared or committed at this point in time.

In reference to choking, what tag to you give those teams in D1 and D2 who didn't make the last dance ? Rather be known as a choker than

Drove past the hill today (De Winton) or should of say ex hill. while the boys digging it up and have a hard time doing it with the bobcats its great to see the ground finally getting upgraded! its about time! hopefully they can get it done in time for the season! but even if they dont and year wont hurt since the upgrade is about 10 years overdue!

and i dont see how losing a grand final to greensborough was choking since no one thought greensborough was going to lose that game. let be honest they were the best side all year and deserve to go up.

yes we choked against lalor. should of won but didnt ill cop that one.

but u cant call thomo last year choking. going into the game everyone was 50 50 on their tips. but if u ask around enough thommo was prob favorates so i cant see how that is choking either.

but as u said lets move on, its 2009. a new year a new side and a new season. let hope 4th time lucky if we are good enough to make it

Wouldnt say you choked against Lalor either, earlier in the year they gave you an 8 goal head start at your ground and only lost by a kick, they were always a big chance on the bigger grounds with the running style of game they played. I think Lalor were the sleepers and got under the guard of a few teams & supporters.

id say the strong will still be strong(Macleod,Whit,D-Creek),my tip is Epping & F-Stars will be the big improvers this season....& could possibly
challenge this season?
havent heard much out of the teams like watsy & lower? & the rest will battle to stay out of div 3...???

Ignore the w***ers Macloudboy07. I was at the last two grand Finals and
Macloud have NOTHING to be ashamed of and most certainly do not deserve to be tagged as chokers.
They have been the side that has set the bar in Division 2 the last few years they have helped raise the standard of football that the opposition sides have had to produce to match them.
They did not lose the last two flags by surrendering without one hell of a fight and it took both Lalor and Thomastown to produce their absolute best performances to beat them. Good luck to Macloud in 2009. I hope you win it this year if for no other reason than just to shut up the idiots who fire their cheap shots from behind their keyboards.

Macleod are just victims of their own success(of sorts) although in saying that IMO they got out of jail in the first final against mernda... I may be a little biased though.

As for next years improvers I would have to say Stars will be the big one, mernda will continue our steady improvement and Whittlesea will fall and fall hard.

Just what I keep hearing. I have spoken to many different people that say there is a mass exodus of sorts down there. I know we have picked up a couple, Epping and morang have a few aswell. Diamo I don't really know much about but from what I have heard they have a solid young contingent who will be very competitive in divvy 2.

In other news, Mernda had 40 at training tonight... 6-7 blokes senior/reserves who have just walked in off the street and a few other handy recruits its looking good at the moment.

S. Garland, Aquilina and Fitzy are the definite names I have heard. Garland and Fitzy both finished last year in the two's but are both 1st players. I don't know any other of the players. The three I mentioned are pretty well set in stone but the others I heard going to morang and epping are just heresay at the moment.

As far as mernda goes we have got a few blokes that look like they have some potential. Couple from other clubs that will definately play senior footy and a couple from VFL 2nds sides that will fit in nicely. I don't want to mention any names yet because for all I know they could still leave before the season begins.
