Can see some merit in dropping back to Div 3 but appreciate the passion expressed above.
I watch Watsonia a few times a season as I don't live far away & can walk down. Don't know much about the club though & can't understand what went so seriously wrong. They were a middle of the table Div 2 team with hopes of pushing up towards the finals just a couple of years ago, now they can barely score. What happened?

We wernt just middle of the table in 08', we won a final. And were very unlucky not to win more! I was involved in both of those finals, and all the feelings and raw emotions that came with them! A lot of things happened throughout last year which put a bad taste in ppl's mouths! And as a result we lost a senior playing group in near entirety. So back to the drawingboard!

Passion and mateship is what we're living on down at watsy! And if u ask me, that's what footy's all about! And compared to how the club was last year, with next to no passion & no mateship from the senior personnel getting paid the big $$$. I'd take no wins in 2010 for the feeling we have down there right now compared to last year with 5 or 6 wins! Even though we dont have a 'winning feeling' down at the club right now, i know we're heading in the right direction. Because we still have new young blokes coming down each week to train and to play! And that wouldnt happen if the club wasnt a great place to be!

I can see why ppl say "just go down to div 3, get a few wins for the moral". But i honestly can't see that happening. Im as optimistic as the next bloke, and i can't see the boys getting a win this year if we're unable to challenge the stars this week. But we'll finish out the year win or not, heads held high. That feeling of playing in a strong, successful team in 08' is on the way back with the current playing group in the near future! Perhaps bulsterd with a few good talls! I tell you, the future of the 'Mighty Wats' is solid. Unfortunate for any club that has to face us in the coming years! The foundations are here, the scoreboard will take care of itself!

:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu: Love it mate!

I am Watsonia born and bred as well and i dont understand all this fold talk. A club will fold when it has no players and no money. No one outside of Watsonia would know how the club is going on the inside but i can tell you, I play with my mates week in week out and there will always be this core group there, I can guarantee that.

We love the club and although our hard work on the track is barely being reflected on the scoreboard, we still work as hard as ever to improve. Senior players have jumped off (some during the last few weeks) and this would affect any side.

Its time to rebuild, and once we get a few years under the belt of our younger blokes in addition to a few experienced heads, things will be brighter. We will fight to the end this year and do our best. We will be back!

Compared to last year? 3 senior blokes who were new to the club this year have already walked out. Don't recall that happening last year but im sure you will correct me if I am wrong.

Any way all the best with the rebuilding

It has been interesting reading all the comments on Big Footy. It is so easy for some to hide behind aliases and make some of their comments. Gutless I call it. You know who you are. Thought it was time someone stood up for our young side.
It used to be playing local footy was all about playing with your mates. Mateship for life. Stand shoulder to shoulder through the good and the bad. Have a few beers together and a laugh. If the worst thing that happens to you in life is you get thumped in footy well life isn’t so bad. Sure you feel gutted at the time but you have a shower and a few beers with your mates and it is in perspective.
It takes character and G&F to stand by your mates when times are tough. To walk out on a club after a few games shows lack of character and absolutely no guts. Wouldn’t want to rely on them in a tough finals game.
Did you not think that Watsonia may not have wanted to take the easy way out? They will fight it out till the end and take what comes at the end of the season?
The young men taking the park each week are showing courage and G&F every week, turning up to training to keep working at improving, and when they finally win (which they will) there will be no better feeling for them.
As you can probably tell I am a proud and loyal Watsy supporter :)

Do you live in a glass house?

Just goes to show who has in their heart to play for the Watsonia jumper, rather than piss off for the cash like a money hungry pig.

But coming from a Epping supporter, I wish Watsonia all the best this week and in the near future. Stick fat boys, the rewards will come. :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

Three players only came for the $$$. Once the going got tough lack of character saw them leave.
Thanks for your good wishes

IMO these days $$$ makes football clubs more competitive. They must of not been worth the dollars going off the scoreboard in the last few weeks?

Diamo by 5 goals To good for Mernda
Epping by 6 goals To good for Thomo
W'sea by 4 goals @ Lowers ground
Stars by 10 goals if anyone cares

Assuming the favourites all get up tomorrow, a nice 2-game gap will have developed between the top four and the bottom ones:
Diamond Creek vs Mernda
Epping vs Thomastown
Lower Plenty vs Whittlesea
Fitzroy All Stars vs Watsonia

Hear what your saying mate.... many years of poor management and direction from within the club have lead to your current state. A word of advise to anyone involved at Watsonia... don't listen to those sucks at the RSL.... might put in some money but they are the biggest crocks going around... they are going the same way and still run their business like it was 1975... much like Watsonia!

For what its worth, i hope some the club can turn it around but with alot of the local sponsorship, juniors etc going to Macleod, Bundoora and without doubt more to St Marys its going to be tough....

Paradians(Footy) have their eye on the ground already too!

Why would Paradians want to move from their ground at the college on Plenty Road ? I know that their cricketers moved their senior teams to AK Lines for better facilities as they couldn't get them at the College. But I would have thought that it is different for the football club as they don't need the social rooms at AK Lines because the amateurs don't allow beer sales during matches, and the social rooms that they have now are good.

Still in that glass house?

nah seriously ****, ur clubs shit. u should play that north sunshine team that was in the paper for a charity game, with all proceeds going to concord. They should televise it live on the comedy channel.

The only thing unfortunate about facing Wats in a few years is u know every1 can get on the piss the night b4 cos ur all *******s

Unfortunately people have to come on here and read this rubbish...

Id like to know what gives you the write to come on here and post a ridiculous comment like that.... what have watsonia ever done to you?

Its the to$$ers like you out there who probably have never played the sport before, and never endured any hard times. Just one of those feral supporters who jumps on there clubs bandwagon when there up and jump off when they are down.

Grow up you ****wit and get a life!!!

Just want to say, ive been at Watsonia for just this season, and its a great club with some good blokes, on field yes we struggle, but at one stage all football clubs do. The things that piss me off and many of our faithfull supporters and passionate players is when people get on this site and say how shit we are, anyone can do that, from all we no u could be a chris judd or a gary ablett, but show ya face and mouth off because i take it as you people are hacks that sink piss and watch footy or play a shit standard at footy, but i dont know. The club has got the right path at the moment witmany young fellas working hard, the base is there money will come and then better players will also. But for now the club is rebuilding. So all you people that mouth off remember that you probably don't play and you have no idea what its lke to be down, but by god it will be a great feeling when we are back up.
Thanks to all the people behind the club whether you are from wats or another club cheers!.

Calling CONNIECOBURG

Calling CONNIECOBURG

What's the big secret about not advising the fina scores of the Fitzroy All Stars vs Watsonia games.

Nothing listed here or on the NFL website ! Did you actually play ?

You got me Iron Sheik... Was bound to happen sooner or later I guess. Probably why Im not involved in any coaching this year and running around for a D3 ammos side, in the magoos as well. I got away with it for many years though. At least that is something to hold my hat on.

Whats your excuse?? You probably wont reveal who are, for fear that you would be laughed at.

Dont have any sour grapes to the Watsonia Footy club at all. Just find it hard to believe that people are having a crack at past players on websites and in the footy record behind aliases when they are saying its weak to do so. You would think they would be more concerned on what is actually happening at the club presently, rather than what has happened in the past.

Anyway, hope all goes well in trying to keep the club afloat. From all reports you will need it.
