Isolation doesn’t suit me. Lost my job last week, or to be exact I was stood down. Only for that job keeper package to be released and now thankfully I’m back, but have agreed to a reduced wage for the duration.

still spent $250 on a retro Footscray long sleeve jumper today. It looked too good. We seriously have the best vintage gear. All modern long sleeve guernseys we wear these days should have the hoops on the sleeve
A lot of things must be set right after this virus crap. And hoops on the sleeve is up there on the list for me too.

Liberatore spotted a lot running in Altona, several times a day. Will need match fitness but would get him in that side pretty quick if he is ready, when and if the season starts.
Well technically he’d be on the same base as the rest of the players, no one will have any match fitness by the time the games resume. Should be in straight away.

. Should be in straight away.

Amen to that
Libba doesn't play in the final last year and what happens - we give in without a yelp. Libba doesn't play round one this year- exact same outcome.
We need him out there because the evidence from those two games is that our so called experienced senior players won't step up ( we should have played JJ , he wasn't out there right?) Cordy, Hunter , Daniel etc. Special mention for Dunkley- what us the point of being built like Tarzan if you don't impose yourself.
End of rant 507.

Bit harsh on Dunkley mate. One bad game and you say he doesn't impose himself. He will make amends for that poor game against Collingwood.

I hope you are right. I was also disappointed that he didn't stand up for the Bont in the final last year. I know he had lots of mates that day but that's not an excuse . Hopefully lots of guys make up for the Pies game.

Just read that 73yo Michael Bowden died of Motor Neuron Disease in the NT. It's a shocking disease.

Michael is the father of Patrick Bowden who played a modest 50 games with the Dogs before crossing to Richmond where his more successful brother Joel (now a NT MLA) and his premiership winning father played.

Michael was a very decent bloke who did a lot for indigenous people up north.
Thought he was worth a mention here. RIP.

Sorry for hear about the job-loss mate. I hope some space opens up for you to resume your job.

After our first pick i'd draft the hardest player available. Dont care what position he plays we need to get mongrel into the team so it becomes the norm and others stand up. Imagine Clay Smith in his prime without injuries.

From a Knightmare article:

Nathan O'Driscoll
Arguably Western Australia's best midfield prospect, O'Driscoll is one of the most advanced midfielders in the draft class. O'Driscoll has a real presence to him both in the way he attacks the ball and aggression with which he tackles. He tackles to hurt and takes much larger opponents to ground. O'Driscoll while best suited through the midfield has the capability to play in defence, win one-on-ones and take intercept marks.

If he can play outside he sounds like he'd be an asset.

Canned crowd noise at this year's footy  Gross - GWS already have it to boost their silent minority.

Honestly, if the rest of the season has to be played under these conditions, just cancel the whole season.

...If he can play outside he sounds like he'd be an asset.

O’Driscoll drove with a song,

The wild duck and the drake,

From the tall and tufted reeds

Of the drear Hart Lake.

And he saw how the reeds grew dark

At the coming of moon tide

And he dreamed of the long dim hair

Of Bridget his bride

He heard while he sang and dreamed

A piper piping away

And never was piping so sad

And never was piping so gay

Is O’Driscoll better suited to Murph’s post career role than Dunkley’s ?

First Footscray team to win a flag, 1898. Some of them look a bit seedy, after a big Mad Monday!

Before dogwatch asks, that photograph does me no favours with the lighting. I was an early victim of the newly-introduced order-off rule in the VFA that year, and after my 4th consecutive game of being ordered off, the captain 'Big Dave' De Coite and the president 'Old Man' James Cuming decided I should cool my heels on the sidelines for the remainder of the season. Consequently I was not listed in the 21 premiership players:

But was at least allowed to appear in the team photograph. I wasn't a big fan of knickerbockers either, but I did introduce the 'wet willy' to the chaps over a few ales to celebrate awarding of the 'premier-ship'. (There was some concern at Port Melbourne's protest, but luckily the Northerners argued their case well, and my room-mate and team-mate Tender-touch Edmondson - also not listed above - and I let out a thunderous 'Hurrah' in the midst of our celebratory clinch, slipped our lace-ups over our well-oiled bosoms, and marched down to the club to embrace all and sundry. Sadly, we were never invited back for the 1899 season... )

Thanks Ivan, I had no doubt you were there somewhere so I didn't have the temerity to ask this time. Appreciate the human interest angle though.

Actually I thought I might have been able to catch up with you yesterday. I knocked but there was no answer.
No doubt you were off somewhere ... which era was it?
