MacGill has now bowled 25 overs straight, for only two wickets.

As i speak, he is relieved by Mark Waugh.

Surely it's time for Steve Waugh to roll the arm over. On second thoughts, he isn't campaigning for ODI selection anymore, so scrap that one.

180 runs for the session, Vics 3/183 @ Lunch (yes the clown on baggygreen has updated the scores yet again).

1 wicket too many down that session for my liking but great to see the boys having a crack at it.

If we could go 1/120 in the middle session - will make things interesting and get NSW very very nervous.

Chasing 150 in the final session with 5-6 wickets in hand would be very gettable.

So far so good. Session to date 1/122 racked up so far since lunch with 15 minutes until the tea break. Provided we lose no more wickets this session, we should be chasing 135-140 from 4.00pm

Batsmen's choice isn't it?

Yep, but i think the umpires can overrule them.

You can bet Steve Waugh will bring his quickest bowlers into the attack should the light deteriorate.

Apparently it's very overcast in Sydney - I hope it's a bit clearer in Newcastle else the game might not go the distance.

Surely the weather won't rob us twice in one season.

Given the scoring rate, if we hold onto our wickets, we would get to the score by about 6pm.

Unless of course Steve Waugh goes with the 'go slow' tactics, the same tactics that he despised when Aussie captain.

The only circumstances under which the umpires could overrule the batsmen would be if the conditions for the fielding team were considered to be too dangerous. This would be unlikely in the case of light, but would be a possibility if it were to rain heavily and the surface became too slippery.

White has lifted the tempo...taking 14 off the last over from Don "I'm the next big thing" Nash.

72.6 Nash to White, two runs, pitched up, driven back past the bowler
72.5 Nash to White, FOUR, pitched full outside off, struck away through
extra cover
72.4 Nash to White, FOUR, pitched full outside off, driven away through
cover
72.1 Nash to White, FOUR, short ball, pulled away in the air over mid
wicket

Toss the man a baggy green!

Hooksey will go ballistic if NSW try to slow the game though.

Justified, given Waugh's stance on such a tactic in the past.

Although it wouldn't be the first time Waugh has been shown up as a hypocrite (or in Bigfooty speak 'hypocrit').

fading light

I doubt Steve Waugh will slow the game down too much as New South Wales were allready docked a point this season for slow over rate.

Tea and the Vics are 4/325, requiring 130 off the last 40 overs and having 6 wickets in hand.

Promises to be a very interesting last session. Probably a good time to have a break for NSW. I reckon NSW have to get a wicket in the first 5-10 overs of the session. If they don't, they're done for.

If they manage to remove Hussey early, I'd back a NSW win.
If they manage to back White early, it would be 50-50, depending on whether the Vic tail can give Hussey enough support.

The new ball is due just after tea, that might be the difference.

Also likely to increase the scoring rate from both Hussey & White who like the ball coming onto the bat.

Could well be.

Match is very evenly poised. On face value Victoria should win, but one more wicket and NSW are certainties.

Their over rate is pretty good today though, so he has the opportunity to slow it down, should he feel the game slipping away.

Cameron White's an even better batsman than I thought... getting consistent runs nowadays, and vital runs, too, most of the time.

Averaging about 45 this season with the bat.

What an average for someone most consider only a bowler. Proven not only can he be a lethal bowler, he is no knock over with the bat.

Victoria require another 116 runs with 6 wickets and 37.4 overs remaining

Victoria RR: 4.36
Required RR: 3.12
Don’t wanna talk about a victory yet, because it would only take a quick breakthrough from NSW and we’d practically be gone. All we need is for these two to hang around, not do anything stupid, and score the required runs.

It would sure be a win against all odds considering that most people on here wrote the Bushys off.
