Gormandale were way too good for Heyfield yesterday. Both teams were missing key players but in reality Gormandale had better structures over the ground. They set up really well.

There whole team played a smarter brand of football quite obviously working hard and sticking to the set plans.

Both Paul Richards and Lee Stockdale were fantastic for Gormandale. Gormandale look as though they have found a few quicker players through the middle of the ground to complement the harder bodied types. The whole team looked fit and ran hard all day.

Personally I believe they are the side to beat. Especially when you add Dane Mcgennisken, Daniel Trease, Shane Simpson and Skippy Domaille into that line up.

Amazed at the improvement of players like Callanan and the Marks boys.

The ground was in good condition, centre was muddy but that is about it. It is good to play at gormandale when its not hard as a rock.

when your talking structures, did you mean s.anderson was out coached??

How's the DOMS this week Nugget? :D

Tip:Before playing your first game of football for the year. Do not do personal training on the friday night.

Wasn't too bad Yummy. I was actually surprised by my lack of soreness but still took until tuesday for it all to have gone away.

Big clash at Gaskin Park this week, ground not in the best of nick, probably the worst its been in a decade.

Heyfield really need to find a win against a top 5 side or finals might be out of reach, but have lost to the top sides by an average margin of 45 points so far this season. Usually go alright at Churchill where as the Cougars have won a couple at Gordon Street in recent times.

Leigh McDonald still a week or 2 away (outside chance for Gormy next week) from his return from knee injury. Chris Burke has finally got 2 games together back to back this year so he will hopefull find a bit. Current forward set up is looking good with the Campbell brothers and Steve Paterson in great touch.

Glen and Rosedale looks to be a interesting game as well, Plozza for Rosedale has a tranfer request in, aanyone know whats going on there?

Stratford are having a terrible time at the moment, president has resigned mid way through year hate to see them going through this rough period. They may rue the chance that they never took the opportunity to play in th EGFL as they just seem to lose players and are not being able to attract anyone to stay at the club for a continued time. Lets hope it turns around quickly for the club.

Any way nearing the end of the year. Four finalists are set with Cowwarr, Heyfield, Rosedale to fight out for the last position. Also have started to think of a team of the year. May look something like this.

B. B.Mahoney (Churchill) W.Jarred (Woodside) W.Gieschen (Boisdale Briagolong)
HB. S.Anderson (Heyfield) G.Bickery (Stratford) H.Fox (Glengarry)
C. W.Kelly (Heyfield) J.Emery (Rosedale) D.Jenkins (Churchill)
HF. J.Schuback (Sale City) J.King (Glengarry) T.Brighton (Churchill)
F. D.Trease (Gormandale) P.Richards (Gormandale) J.Staley (Woodside)
R. M.Lutze (Sale City) J.Tollner (Sale City) L.Stockdale (Gormandale)

Int from. Bold is who i would pick
B.Smith (Glengarry)
Nic. Campbell (Churchill)
J.Whykes (Churchill)
L.Renton (Gormandale
)
A.Brady (TTU)
R.Ferguson (Cowwarr)

Apologies to B.Dinsdale, M.Hall, J.Cantwell, L.Mcdonald, N.Hider, J.Bell, P.Joyce, R.Tait, J.Mclay, J.Milham, J.Shingles (injured), J.Neille, M.Engley maybe J.Piper, D.Patterson, S.Morgan (injured).

A few players have been injured that are regulars ie Mcdonald, Stevens, Brander and Mayman.

Coach - Shane Hamilton (Gormandale)
Captain - Josh King (Glengarry)

League Best and Fairest - Josh Tollner
Runner Up - Will Kelly or Travis Brighton
Goalkicking - Paul Richards
Best First Year - Daniel Burnett (Boisdale Briagolong)

Would have to suggest Boisdale/Briagalong are in a similar position to Stratford. Out there on the weekend and just no one there. I no they have been poor on the field in the past, much more than this year, but something doesnt seem right. This is from a club that had 3 teams playing finals last year and had built well in the years previous, Hope I'm off the mark but I just dont know how they are going.

Not even gonna try to put a team out to match yours Nugget but you have the right Churchill players in the squad.

Daniel Hawking back for the Cougars will definately help what has been a dysfunctional forward line at times this year, Burkey logging plenty of game time and Leigh McDonald came back after 2 months and looked like he never left. Perhaps the return of another premiership star up forward will cap it all off? Stay tuned.

Why has Daniel Hawking come back??

The premiership star up forward I presume is Nathan Mcdonald because clearances are shut. Lets hope he has registered to play for your sake.

Knee tendonitis so not able to do all training and play at Traralgon, still capable of doing it at Nth Gippy level though so is a handy pick up.

Not even 100% sure on Nathan but structure wise he would be good to have in the side, pretty sure if he is going to play he would have to make an appearance this week otherwise it would be getting to late.

hasn't S.Anderson been injured or is playing injured, not sure his form grants, (all australian) nth gippy team, is this coming from a heyfield mate, has gieschen played back pocket at all this year?????

You seem to have all the answers mate!!

His form (Stuarts) hasn't been as devastating as last year but it has been fairly consistent and very good in my opinion. You pick a better half back flanker than him this year?

Is this coming from a heyfield mate? What does that mean?

Not sure about Gieschen, but was picked there last year and more than likely will get picked there again. Regan Tait might be close, Dale Patterson and Jon Bell from Glengarry too. As I said Robbie this is how the side may look.

EDIT: Daniel Hawking is still capable of kicking the majority of his goals against Heyfield from ridiculous position in pressure situations.

from what i read, w. gieschen should be half back before anderson, surely, but i can't say anderson been to bad, i just haven't seen anderson in the best much & heard he's playing injured, mind you Gieschen & Tait are the only decent players from boisdale, so it would be hard for Gieschen & Tait not to get in the best every week.

lol, seems to do that to you blokes a bit. Just hope he can atone for Grand Final last year.

One thing about your team of the year Nugget, you would hate to be playing in the backline against that forward line!

Joel Brayshaw has been cleared to Sale City this week, has been playing football for Cobram which sit on top of the ladder in the Murray Football League been in the best a few times and played Interleague last year.

Was a Vic Country player in 1999, for people within the league wanting to know what he is like is of similar height and build to David Downdes and will play midfield. Probably on more money than what Downdes was getting though!!! Hahahaha

Heyfield will give him a good initiation into the league this week.

Should be a good accquistion for the club and give them some (more) talent.

Saw your post in the Gippsland League Nugget and now this one, he was the bloke Sale were supposed to get yeah? Heard this a while back but nothing since, maybe talk went quiet when he decided on City.

Looks to be a very handy pick up, I daresay this flag is starting to get quite expensive, good as long as you win it, not so good if you dont. Nothing against it though as Sale have done well to be even in the comp after they went into recess, just no guarantees thats all, Gormandale anyone?

Brayshaw is a good player but not a superstar, played at korumburra a few years back. I heard he was offered money by both sale and sale city with sale city being a flag chance he went there.
Murray Football League is not a great standard, probably in betwee NGFL and WGLFL or whatever it is these days.

He played there after his ankle operation???

Sale City don't need any more help than what they have at the moment. Poaching all the good players available. Only dropped the one game whilst adding a good player at this time of the year. Its a big thing to do too offer money at a player three quarter of the way through the year when your on top of the ladder. Could backfire badly or be a blessing.

They must not be too smart in the Murray League I read that Cobram are hoping to have him back for the finals pretty hard considering clearnces have closed.

Just on my team of the year, after seeing what Nick Hider did to us yesterday and the fact they did not put him in the best. This is an indictment on who goes in the best for sale city as hider was clearly best. He would most definately be in the team of the year as the centremen.

I have been told too, that he would be winning Sale City's b+f.

We stuck with them for a half, but eventually the avalanche of pace and forward thrusts they had outdid us. Were very good around the stoppages, moving the ball quickly and direct. It looks as though the game against Gormandale will be a cracker.

Brayshaw was ok, but will obviously get better with the run into the finals as he adjusts to his team mates.

Can someone please tell me about an umpire pulling out a red card on the crowd or something or other?

Just a wild story I heard over the grape vine
