what Heyfield need in the 3rds is a class forward. Daniel Dowd done the job on the weekend, but he needs to play week in week out. wallace might see himself as a star midfielder simply because he comes from the west gippy league, but heyfields midfield class shines weeek after week with K wood racking up the touches and the B&F votes and skeen due to come back to full fitness next week, not to mention big hugh scholes. they need a powerful opinon up the ground.. maybe they need to make a play at the giant from briag.. Nicoll Sandison???

Like to know some peoples opinions (Dylza), on Sale City???

Pretty poor performance on a big occasion, looked undersize and match ups were terrible.

Apart from Schuback didnt have a forward who looked capable, Hider should not have played, the way Wellins played on him indicated that, was too classy for a player whom has been dominant at higher levels. Was obviously concious of his face injury.

I think the biggest concern for City is there actual coaching, at 3 quarter time there was three to four players/coaches/officials speaking at certain stages, from what i heard Hider was terrible....giving no direction or inspiration.

Credit where credit is due though, Heyfield played well and with a full list look likely at this stage. Even with Wayne Knight and Andrew Stevens finishing early on saturday, they outclassed City through a greater depth of players, hardness in the contests and a willingness to play direct.

It seems to me that the NGFNL is so unpredictable at the moment that we wont get a clear indication of anyones chances until finals start. With pressure, expectations and certainly team selection playing a massive part into deciding who will be premier.

i wuld say Joel "milk chocolate" dinsdale on the forward flank ahead of L. "wings" Fasoli and P. Coleman at full forward changing in the ruck and A. "matt priddis" van D on the back flank for T. Rowley.
also K. Woodland on the forward flank and H. Cross in the guts.
could C. Cox find a spot in this side if he made a triumphant return to North gippy football?

LOL!

about the team tho, i'd say 'carrolan' should have his name spelt correctly..
also don't know if tim george should be starting after his shocker last saturday! you cant't have -254 super coach points and expect to start in a full strength team!

Heyfield were clearly the better side on Saturday.

Firstly, i've only seen City play once this year and i could be off the mark in saying this but they seem to play very "dumb" football. A simple game plan with no plan B. I don't know how many times quality leads were turned down in favour of bombing the ball to Schuback in a shit position. time after time a Heyfield defender would drop back in front of Schuback and take an easy mark and they'd flush it out again, only for City to repeat the process again when it clearly wasn't working.. plenty of frustration in the City forward line.. maybe i'm being harsh but that's definitely what happened on Saturday.

i guess that is probably the biggest drawback (if there are any) of having stars in your team (especially in what most people would deem a "lesser" league) is that players give them the ball 110% of the time, even if they are in a terrible position. In reality i guess having Schuback is going to win them alot more games but having him out there on saturday (mind you it's no fault of his own because half the time the ball was kicked to him he wasn't even calling for it) cost them.

just an observation.

In the first quarter. Dropped chest marks, U turns. But looked lively up forward....

Pretty spot on, they played so wide. And schuback conscious....he is only 179cms.

i think Rowen Wallace would be a very good pick up for the 3rds!! him and K Woodland would make a unstopable match up together after K woodland racked up 50 possys on the weekend!!

Those 50 posessions equal the number of touches T. Sundermann gets throughout the year.
Is definitely struggling for form this year, but could have a big second half of the year by being thrown either deep into the forward line one out using his incredible body mass, or straight into the guts to intimidate and psyche out his opponent!

A great game was played by the great H.Scholes on the weekend for the heyfield thirds. His best on performance made Sid crack a fat when writing Scholes' name next to the three votes for the league b&f.

i really think his (tim george's) big friday night are getting to his game.. i don't know what's got into him lately..

i remember one time in the second quarter i heard you calll out 'kick it to Tim George' so i did, but he dropped an easy mark..

i think that this observation is wrong. i don't think they looked for him enought.. they lack a great team so have to go through a great player as often as possible.. he did not work hard enough and did not look like he wanted to be there.. not saying it's his fault, but he did not want to be there...

very harsh on tim george, i agree he did butcher the ball but he was under immense pressure, due to the city forwards work to keep the ball inside attacking 50. He was better after half time when assigned the run with role on citys favourite son Ben Chivers.

yes he was better at half time when he was sitting on his ass eating lollies abd drinking water.. his specialty

what i thought of Schuback that he didnt wanna work hard enough when it come down to where the game was up for grab and when the game was over he decided to rack up the possys!! i also think that sale city try and over handball and by the time they decide to kick it into there forwards there were to many heyfield players back!!

You can't expect Schuback to outmark 5 players at once. It had nothing to do with his workrate, more the poor decision making of his teammates

Anyone from Sale City or Heyfield could fill me on the contreversy of an alleged umpire in one of the games giving the 'bird' to a group of spectators?

I have not seen Sale City play once this year, And have only played with them in two practice matches. I said they would make the top 5 (Finals)

You can't expect a great change from last year with them. Yes they have picked up two incredible players (Hider and Schuback), in which Hider may been a bit cautious on saturady. But a majority of the players are the same from last year.

I would not know how he is coaching, tactics and line-ups. But having watched Hider through pre-season he has brough light to the kennel. Players have had optimism, confidence and also the club is becoming a more re-known team in the competition.

I don't think the score reflected where both teams were at on Saturday, I think Sale City are due for a little more credit than what you have given them

how wuld u kno? as u just stated u have not seen them play this year. and pre-season games r very different 2 the real thing throughout the year.
and as 4 them having majority of the same players, yes they do but they also hav a group of players that now hav some1 who can lead them 2 the finals, on the weekend it did not look that way, the doggies looked like they lacked spark and motivation. their best player was a young fella who did want to prove himself (and he did) and that he culd play well at this level, if all the city boys had that spark and attitude they culd do very well at the money end of the season

the young fella you are saying there was michael walsh is it not?? he played a good game for someone of his age but he cant expect to keep doing that to guarantee him a spot each week he needs to be able to learn how to play with his team mates and use his speed and fitness to take on older blokes and bring the game alive just like nick dowse, shaun humphries, joel dinsdale and dyl cartwright have done this season!!

Because instead of relying for information on these forums I talk to people who actually play...

Plus you can view team lists on the North Gippsland Football/Netball League website..

And I'll assume thats Rowan Bell the 'young fellow' you are talking about who would be a clear favorite to win Rookie of the Year.
