Come someone confirm/explain the following...

Was watching racing review on tnv tonight and they were talking about the sectional times in the Caulfield Guineas. They said Pierro ran a quicker last 1200m than All Too Hard. If Pierro was infront with 1200 to go and ran the quicker time home.... For memory pierros last 1200 was 1:11 ish and all too hard was a second slower.

I tried looking for the sectionals myself, could find sydney but struggled with melbourne. And i know they've had errors before, i just couldnt work this one out!

Last 1200 times were 1.11.94 for Pierro to ATH 1.12.22, so about 3 tenths quicker.

Although ATH's time was slightly slower, he did have to make a wider run than Pierro, so in reality he covered more ground too. The times indicate Pierro got from the 1200m mark to the winning post faster than ATH, but not that he covered 1200m in total distance faster than ATH, if that makes sense.

As you'd expect, considering he won the race, ATH ran the last 2/4/6 hundred all quicker than Pierro, hence why he could bridge the gap. Hope that helps.

No.

It's clearly a mistake. ATH was behind Pierro at the 1200m, and in front on the line. ATH ran home his last 1200m quicker. Covering extra ground has nothing to do with it. TVN are notoriously wrong with sectionals, and not always by mistake. Says a fair bit about the talent that works on the show if they talked about it, but can't realise it is wrong.

Lol. Well the times were from Daily Sectionals which I assumed are supposed to be 'corrected' from the on track timing... or so they say. Anyway, happy to be wrong.

Why would they lie/mislead about sectionals if not by mistake?

Not sure if I am posting in the right part but I am intrigued by a dog called AH GEE LASS. Seen it's last two and blitzed them both and wasn't favourite for either. Anyone seen this dog race much?

Mucking around fo fun - was on the fave in the first which did nothing.

What's the mail on Maconsillia? Think The Unexpected is the best of the raced brigade in the second.

Maconsilia - trainer has taken it about 5 hours from his stable base (Moe I think)
to the Bool - to me he is looking for an easy first up win and it is his only runner for the day
