Read the article yesterday. The tl;dr version is that all the AFL will be in uproar and the clubs will publicly turn on the commission because Barrett thinks its a bad idea.

No quotes, no sources, not even an inkling that he'd even talked to anyone at any of the clubs, the commission or Melbourne. Just "this is a bad idea, everyone is probably as upset about it as I am, that'll do for an article on the league's official website!"
Spot on. How is this garbage allowed to be published? Honestly, it's baffling.

If it's being pushed as an editorial piece then I can understand why they wouldn't have too many issues with it being put up.
He's probably right that it will piss everyone else off if we get a PP (see: mainboard threads). That said though, the whole PP system pisses people off. Their very existence annoys people because it would be very advantageous to whoever gets one, especially if it's pick 1.
However, do I think we need one? There's a strong case for yes and if we do I won't complain much, but I can see why other people/clubs would be averse to us receiving a PP (doubly so because of the not-tanking saga).

It can't be pick 1 anymore I don't think. At the most it will be after whoever receives it's first pick, or at the end of the first round. I think it can also be after the second pick or at the end of the second round too, if they wanted it to.

Craig Hutchinson also said on Footy Classified last night that it simply wouldn't happen, but he to provided no source or evidence. I wouldn't waste your time venting over journalists there's just no point.

Essentially... Barrett is a knob.

His articles are like reading a royals1922 troll post that's been copy/pasted and then dumbed down several shades.
I think the hysteria closely matches DoP's posting style. Theres something about norf posters...

EXACTLY THIS!!!

Both sides of the coin suck though when you really look at it from an outside perspective.
Sure if we get one it's cool for us - especially if he turns out to be an absolute gun, but on the other hand, opposition will be pissed, which whilst funny to watch all the meltdowns, it does kinda taint the whole thing when it's coupled with AFL handouts, and previous (although useless in hindsight) PP's. Then there's the sheer disdain for us from anyone I haven't covered.

What are the #1 picks that are currently on our list or a direct result of us trading/losing a #1 PP?
(eg: players scored from losing Scully)

Jack Watts (#1)
Hogan (?)
Barry & Dawes (were they a part of the scully compo picks?)

It's not just arts, most of the uni degrees are a piece of piss
Sciences and Math courses are generally hard. But most 'humanities' sorta courses, e.g. commerce, arts, law etc aren't that hard to get through. If you know how to write a decent essay you'll be set.

Back in the day I completed half an engineering course, that was rather difficult before I swapped and did Accounting & Finance (rather easy despite the law subjects). Only shit thing was exams were always worth 60%-80% of your overall mark and most other assessment were mid semester tests

He's not even going to the extent of forming an opinion now.

Geelong the Cats had won the 2008 Grand Final … … would they have been as uncompromisingly driven to succeed in the seasons following that game? Maybe. But maybe not.

Just read it, he says we are getting 2.7m emergency funding. I thought I heard it was 1.4m. Am I reading all these wrong or what? Is it because we get 1.3m equalisation and then have asked for the extra 1.4?
