Hansen, at 22, is far more valuable at CHF than Perrie would be.

I wouldn't play Perrie at FF either. His kicking for goal is too suspect.

WC need a gun FF and Perrie is not that player.

If he doesn't meet our specific needs, how much should we really part with to get him?

good to see you're talking to yourself, and no one else. Perrie would be your best forward next year, but I'd rather trade with Freo they have things we really need.

Cheers

If you look at averages:

Hansen averaged 5.9 marks compared to Perrie's 5.8.
Hansen compared 1.2 contested marks compared to Perrie's 1.3.

Hansen will improve. Perrie won't.

How did our forwards go yesterday against the greatest defence of all time?

Perrie was a real match-winner.

Your forwards didn't go great. Your midfield went well.

Perrie gets double teamed quite often, Hansen doesn't.

I know who I would rather have playing in KP for me and it ain't Hansen.

Hansen kicked 3 goals.

Embley kicked a couple and should have had 4.

We were without our 2 leading goal-scorers in 2005.

How did Perrie go?

Exactly right.

Their midfield spanked us, not their forwards. What did we have, Hansen kicked 3 on Bock who played a stinker, Gardiner kicked 1 on Rutten. What other key forward played well yesterday??????

Well, you've got 6 months to ponder those kind of hypotheticals.

If Perrie got double-teamed it's because our defence works its guys out.

You guys are the kings of flooding back, so it's not as though Hansen had a heap of space to work in.

20 possessions, 8 marks, 1.2.

Fluffed a couple of chances but was very good.

Embley is a wingman, his goals count to your midfield, and Hansen was lucky. You should have thanked your lucky stars you had no Lynch, and Matera was in crap form anyway.

The end.

Hahahah, kings of flooding? West Coast were flooding us pretty much as soon as the game started!

Pathetic child, put your glasses on!

Perrie had 20 touches, 8 marks and a goal.

Not a disgraceful effort.

If thats your best comeback then you are clutching at straws.

Pro stats

Note the stats from rounds 1-14. He picked up a niggle after that which slowed him in round 15 and then sidelined him till round 21. He has been getting his match fitness and form back since then.

Stats for the first 14 rounds

Disposals:13.5
Contested Possessions: 2.1
Marks: 6.5
Contested Marks: 1.4
Goals: 1.3
Inside 50s: 2.9

Those compete very well against Perrie. All this in basically his first season in the AFL (he played 6 games last year) and 22 years old.

Chick played on a HFF and kicked 3.

Embley played forward in bursts and kicked 2.

Sampi didn't kick a lot of goals but played his best game for a while. He won a lot of hot footy across HF and laid off a lot of good ball through traffic.

Against your ultra-defensive game plan, you don't need to kick many goals to win.

Hardly. The great value of Embley is that he can play as a key forward in bursts.

That's what he did against you in R1 when he kicked 3 goals in the 2nd half.

He played at CHF in bursts against Melbourne earlier this year and kicked 3 goals.

Embley is a utility. To call him "a wingman" over-simplifies the role he plays.

Our defence didn't function at all yesterday.

Chick was your pinch hitter. Hardly a full time HHF. Embley is your wingman who rests forward, in other words a resting midfielder. We are talking about your KEY forwards here. Not flankers.

Shane Ellen kicked 5 goals for us once but he wasn't a full time forward.

Embley is not "a wingman".

The reason is such a valuable player is his ability to push forward and down take contested marks.

He can quite easily hold down a key forward spot in bursts. He's done so with considerable success a couple of times this season.

Embley kicked a couple off a hff.
Those goals go to forwards

Re: Perrie has told the WA clubs he wants to come home.

hhhmmm i'd like us to think bigger than Perrie. Hope we just dont go for him for the sake of it.

I doubt we are interested in him. He isn't better than Hansen or Gardiner, sorry. He probably isn't much better than Lynch. He isn't very talented but he is strong, very consistent and does the team things. He would be a nice fit for the Dockers who have some players they might be willing to trade which you could be interested in.

You obviously dont have much of an idea, Lynch is below average for a full forward 31 goals is just not a good return. Perrie has done twice as much as he has playing from a pocket which tradionally sees much less of the ball than what the full forward does.

Lynch has the size to be really impose himself, but just doesnt quite have the talent. He wasnt even good enough to be picked in the prelim final. Perrie's second half of this year has been sensational, his desperation and committment is 110%. If only Scott Welsh could have similar qualities.

So Burton counts as a forward for us as well? Because he essentially plays the same role for us.

Burton pushes back to HB while Embley pushes forward.

Has Burton ever kicked 30+ goals in a season?
