don't the compo picks get announced tomorrow
The new compo picks for clubs that lost players in this trade period get announced tomorrow, the compo pick Geelong gave us is linked to Geelongs finishing position as I mentioned above.

I am interested to see where Exilie picked up the 15 and 55 from.

Pick 15 is where I guess it would be this year? But yeah, cannot activate it this year.

It's not a FA compo pick. It's what they got for Gaz.
If it was this year it would be after Geelongs pick 15 (so 16) however with the new compo picks for Godard ect to be announced tomorrow it could blow out as far as 18. I hope when we do use it the Cats have fallen well out of the 8.

Copied it from one of those AFL fb pages, he then corrected it after to the Gary Ablett compo pick.
Jouro's  , I wonder why we would bother with pick 55, as useful as an empty cup in the desert, if correct we should of pushed harder for compo and Cats no 15 pick and given them Caddy and 25.

It's interesting that we got #55 for Caddy. A pick that is pretty much useless to us. We obviously intend to use it, otherwise we would not have asked for it. Curious to know how it will be utilized.
Have you seen it from a reliable source Sunny (no offence exile) as it does seem out of whack, plus I am sure the clubs said there would be a swap of picks.

At worse, we'll use this pick on Clay for our zone pick. But we could intend on trading it with a player or something.

Paperwork received. GC Suns trade Josh Caddy to Geelong for 2010 Rd1 yet to be activated compo selection (G Ablett) and Rd3 pick (curr. 55).

There are 6 non-activated compo picks. Can't be used in 2012. These now held by GWS (mid r1, end of r1), Suns (r1, 2x end of r1), Eagles (r3)

Just tweeted by Patty Keane from the AFL.

I predict the Suns will activate 1 compo pick a year for the next 3 years, with the Cats compo pick the last to be activated in 2015.

Great pick up, although the the Cats compo picks will be activated in 13/14 and the last one which we traded with GWS was the Palmer end of round 1 I believe? Which is the only one that we can use in 2015, so that will be that one to be used then.

Ashcroft already came out last week I think saying thats what we're doing ;) So in effect we have secured 2x first round picks for the next 3 years :D

Great list management if you ask me.

To be honest Im all for Bringing in Gilham even if it means delisting one more player. We should learn a lot from both Matty Warnock's contribution too the team, but also the swans premiership, providing truth to the age old footy cliché 'defence wins flags'. Nathan Bocck is still a 50/50 and even if fit would be preferred in the Forward line, Gilham will provide us with another 2-3 years cover in the back line and allow for the smooth trasition into afl from the likes of Schade, Cameron, May etc. I think there would be room for Thompson to play in the back line with Gilham playing the loose or 3rd-man-up role.

Hickey to the Saints for pick #34 will probably be getting done today, if you believe the talk going around.
Awesome, another pick we don't need for a player we have developed for 2 years.

We may need this, just to make it feel a little more comfortable

Gross. :p

Ideally we would want pick #24, but that seems unlikely.

It's always the question, do you value a player based on their potential or their proven numbers? To date, Hickey has only had one 'good' game if you go by the numbers, this being against the Pies. And even then, it was their third choice ruck in Cam Wood.

But anyone who actually watches him can tell he'll be a gun ruck. Especially with these new rules. Unfortunately, potential appears to not come into calculations much.
