The QBE Sydney Swans Academy Opens team will have their first hit out for the season in the nationals capital on Saturday, taking on the Murray Bushrangers.

Just loaded it up to see a wonderful rebound 50, charge forward only for the kick inside 50 to be rushed and fail.

Solid first quarter. Got some real whippets in this squad.

#8 looks like a natural talent but would do some silly things that would make you second guess it. #29 getting a bit of it and doesn't muck around. #3 has shorts that are about 5 sizes too big for him. #16 more than willing to put his head over it. Has earned a couple of frees as a result. Some poor set shots across the board.

I think 8 might be TJ Speedy-Coe? If so, he's a recent convert to the code - will make some errors. 29 looks very good, could be Billy King? But maybe a little short for that. He has done some relief rucking though. I think 23 might be Tye Gander - he looks a talent, tall and quick, but hasn't managed to get that involved.

I saw most of the second quarter and I'd have to say some of the best Swans Academy football I've seen. There are some real talents around the ground (big/medium & small). Their defensive pressure and discipline stands out. Not sure how good Murray Bushrangers have fielded but nevertheless Swans have been impressive. Now to see how their fitness levels are in the second half. ...and yes, It would be great if we had a team sheet.

My sisters husband went to training last week and he came home raving about the team how not one person dropped a ball. Such was the quality of the training.

No 24 impressive....stands out on our forward line which is hard to do in a good even display.

Just had a few glimpses. Terrific intensity and second/third efforts. Bushrangers totally struggling to get to halfway. Defenders probably catching cold. Forward set up needs a bit of work to create and look for the open player.

30 looks too tall for Billy King to me - he looks well over 200cm (though it's always tough to tell without knowing the height of everyone else). King was supposedly 198cm late last year.

#3 gets a bit of the ball but needs to work on his kicking. #4 has looked very clean when he has the opportunity, so I like the look of him as well.
