Slim, the no bench part really hurt you on Saturday!
The players likely to play this week that were off?

yeah the mid fielders couldn't get a break AG and the guys that we lost were mostly defenders.....At this stage they're all talking about playing this week so we'll see how they go....:thumbsu:

Can someone please remind me why we have a top 8? Nth Wang finished in the bottom half of the ladder, yet still made finals, only to get absolutely belted. They were never going to be a contender.

I actually like the idea of a final 8. I think its a better format. I suppose there will be one sided games though. However, i think playing a Saturday game and a sunday game this weekend coming up; instead of two Saturday games, is ridiculous - and as Slim said, this would probably only be coz of the league wanting more $$$ - What about us blokes who have to shear cows or milk sheep on sundays?

If you could get that article through to me asap I'll save a nice big spot on the back page MB:rolleyes:

sorry man had a bit of a hangover this morning, hence i couldnt get my fingers typing to write you that article. :p

we were well beaten yesterday. didnt play anywhere near our potential, all players across the ground needed to lift. but, sesho. iv heard rumours of what he gets paid a game, and yesterday, he earnt a paycheck. i played on him when he was at tarra, and thought that moving to king valley and not recieving the ball 10 meters in front on the run would be a difficult change to make for him. but he works with the king valley boys briliiantly.

credit to the rest of their side. they used the space of the ground well. it wasn't pretty footy to watch from either side. but they got the job done and held us off. and good luck to them in the rest of the finals.

didnt have the pleasure to watch any other games, but heard about tarra's flogging of north wang. seems was a tad one sided. haha

looking forward to dropping back to the two's next week and knocking off whorally. in all honesty, with the players we have left eligible to play both teams, i recon our two's could go all the way. or at least challenge everyone we go against.

good luck to everyone else in their finals in the seniors, and in the two's, have fun listening to our song through the wall after the game :D.

What system would be most appropriate in your eyes BK?

I guess a final seven would make finishing first more attractive.

I think both Greta and KV have earned finals spots this year, and given the way KV played yesterday they look a chance to do some more damage yet.

hahaha nice joke! love it!

our two's are travelling just fine thanks. not many teams with the depth of having to turn away around 10 people for finals.

maybe doon are "above ordinary" or whatever you think. but you just wait till this weekend coming. we will do what we should have done two weeks back, put whorally in their place!

I'm still a fan of the top five considering the bottom sides in this comp aren't very competitive - let's face it, a win against these sides isn't worth much. I'm tempted to figure out what the ladder would look like if the bottom four sides were removed, but this wouldn't be a great comparison because some teams played these sides twice and others didn't.

A final seven would be better than a top eight, because as you have said, there is reward for finishing top.

Yes KV and Greta have earned the opportunity to play finals, but the line has to be drawn somewhere. There are often hard luck stories how sides have missed out solely on percentage etc, but it makes the regular home and away matches more exciting towards the end of the year if sides are battling it out for a spot in the finals - less spots equals more determination.

Just to clarify, I'm not flaming the bottom sides in the comp - we have been there before and I'd love to see them become more competitive - but personally, I would like to see sides earn a finals spot, not be rewarded after a mediocre year.

I'd prob prefer to see a top six or seven unless more teams come into the league (Do we need or want that though). Agree with BK on the mediocrity bit but as Nonch suggested KV could do what Doon did last year and do some damage.... There will always be bottom sides that are uncompetitive because as we know footy is cyclical in terms of club strength...

So how will it pan out.....

Tarra V Whorouly with the winner to play Milawa in a prelim...

Blacks V KV with the winner to play Moyhu in a prelim....

Who will get thru to the big dance and why ?????
