Cheers brother. I may well be wrong on him. Just support him for now. More hope although I'm a little confident in his abilities 👍
No worries mate!

I support him as well, all of us ultimately want success for our players and our team! I'm definitely willing to give him an extra couple of games but right now I feel our other mainstay defenders offer more than him when fit. God I hope we get some luck on the injury front soon.

Off topic, but when you're in Melbourne, you should try Jimmy's Deli in Yarraville, best Reuben sandwich I've had in Melbourne so far.

I'll do that mate. I will send you a DM and we can go there together.
Deli food is the best. Looking like around December 2023
😁

Ok ta,

Firstly, I have absolutely no idea why you think my quoting was disingenuous?!?!?
Really confused by that mats!!
To me, you’re basically saying “ what you quoted was wrong because…. There is more not quoted’….yet you can’t produce anything ?!?!!?!
So all I can say is wtf?

As for your post…has nothing to do with markov. He’s solid depth and doing his job.
My comments were about Stocker. Which isn’t someone we need or want (before r we lose our entire defence!!)
We'll have to agree to disagree on the Apex one mate, I can't really elaborate any further on that.

The only issue I take with the bolded is that there was no comment as such, just a laughing emoji, so it was hard to gather whether what you had a problem with, especially since it was a small part of a larger post. Thanks for clearing that up though!

I disagree with you on Stocker though, I'd go as far to say I thought he was fantastic against us (as much as it pains me as a one eyed pie to say that lol), defensively he was sound, he broke tackles and was accurate and attacking with his kicking. When a player can mix the defensive with the attacking like that, it impresses me. Also I like the idea of Carlton getting rid of a decent player for nothing haha.

So zero for three!! :)
Guess we’re close to agreeing then!

It's a bit like a kids' playground in here. Can't say I'm any the wiser about Markov after reading the last 4 pages of this thread, but my eyes will probably be the best judge anyway this afternoon as to where he currently sits in terms of his skills and playability. Go Pies!

Markov had better play well so I don't look an idjut.

Lol.
“One sentence that wasn’t elaborated on”. Gold.
If you really thought it was decision making ….you would have said so.
We’re all wrong mate!!!
It’s what makes this forum great!

At some point you’ll admit that maybe, just maybe, someone had a different opinion than you that is correct.

I’m glad you’ve come around to my thinking (can post the entire thread if you want?!?)

We’re def on the same page moving fwd.
I’ve noticed we are very alike in our thoughts around football.

Why don’t you post previous posts around how it was clear it was decision making?!?

I mean….it’s only fair you defend yourself ?!?!?
I replied to this and a bunch of other posts this morning, but for some bizarre reason they’ve been deleted. Apparently according to our mods I shouldn’t be allowed a right of reply on an open forum, but regardless, I will make another attempt.
Confident that Adams' kicking will stand up during the season. His major issue was decision making when he had time and space, often panicking and stuffing up the kick under little to no pressure. It's something he's actively worked on this preseason, and it looks to have paid off. Funnily enough, his kicking under pressure was never really that bad, so I can't see it becoming too much of an issue suddenly.

You’re right, you’re struggling, because you’re thinking of the outside version. I’d imagine an inside version of Phillips would be similar to Adams, an inside bull and tackling machine who doesn’t get a huge amount on the outside and has poor decision making when given time and space.
I could find more, but this is an opinion I’ve maintained for years, as evidenced by how old these posts are.
Quick question!!

If he’s so right, why am I asking you this and he’s not responding?
Because I was tired and went to bed. Staying up until 2am arguing with a random on BF isn’t my idea of fun, believe it or not.

My crystal ball says: He'll run his arse off, get 18 possessions with 4 turnovers. You'll claim he was excellent. Others will claim he was horrific and he'll be selected - just - to play Adelaide.

If Murphy returns v Adelaide I’d have thought either Markov or Ruscoe would be vulnerable. If Cox was also to return freeing Frampton to return to his defensive role, I’d have though both would be.

Prior to todays game, neither ahead of Moore, Maynard, IQ, N Daicos, Murphy, Frampton or Noble.

Coxy won't be back next week. I don't think he's even running or doing non contact work yet.

But yes, if Ruscoe and a couple of others on the fringe outperform Markov, he'll probably make way. My crystal ball said Markov just selected, it didn't tell me who missed out. Short break so could easily be someone coming up sore, even if we don't cop our standard eight week injury for someone..

Well done Oleg. Was good when it counted.

This kid has more upside than Noble. I know that Noble has the runs on the board.

But he is an upgrade on Noble. Just as quick and doesn’t go to water in the high pressure game.

Definitely not better now (or with upside) to Noble.

Noble is a much better kick, is solid under pressure (generally), and is a more attacking player. Noble is one of the most criminally underrated players on this board unfortunately for him. If we were needing to find someone's spot for Oleg to take, it would be Quaynor's (who is somehow consistently rated higher than Noble on this board). Quaynor fumbles sooooo much. He is Harry O'Brien Mk II in so many ways.

Yes he is showing us some good form.
Loving watching Oleg play.

Goes alright. Shows the value of having ready to go backups. We're much better placed in that regard this year, which is why we've been better able to cover for our injuries, despite having more.

Don't think he's going to crack our best 22, but useful backup.

You lost me when you mentioned IQ as lesser than Noble.

The discussion need not continue. Noble is no where near IQ. Like it or not. Noble is an Expendable. Especially if guys with the size and speed of Oleg.

I personally still prefers Noble over Markov. More mistake prone but breaks the line and essential to our game plan.
