He has potential, that's about it at this stage.

Nothing like hyperbole.
Firstly as you haven't mentioned living there I assume you have no direct personal experience to speak of but are speaking as an armchair, sometime tourist.
Secondly it is a cunis town - by that I mean neither one thing or the other.
Too big to enjoy the benefits of a rural community.
Too small to have the advantages of a capital city.
Thirdly it's attitude to it's neighbouring settlements is predatory.
Fourthly it's attitude to Melbourne is chip on shoulder.
The shipwreck coast is rightly renowned for it's scenic splendour.
A shame about the gateway.
So, what do people think about Ollie not being able to cement a place in the team? Clearly his best footy is very impressive. He looks a star when he is leaping taking marks, kicking goals, but clearly he is doing something wrong or not in line with team expectations?
Yes, he is young, but this would not be the reason, plenty of young players can and have cemented spots. So..........??
IDK what the reason is but can only guess. To me it might be his defensive work rate and pressure acts? I do see him out of position a fair bit in the forward line, not tracking his defender. As they say, for 98% of the game you do not have the footy in your hands, so what are you doing with all this time? Anyone have a different thought?
Ollie has demonstrated his ability at the highest level, he has much more than "potential".
A draftee has potential, Ollie has lit it up on the biggest stage.
Any number of clubs would love him in their starting 18.
He's no star yet but he is a proven talent with a bit to work on. It's a luxury that the club can afford to keep him in the 2s and play the long game with his development.
Parfit just signed a 2 year deal.Geelong forum want Parfitt moved on for Ollie or a first round pick. They are certainly keen and confident
Will be line ball that’s for sure.

I’m quite comfortable with Kappa’s characterisation. Henry has shown he has ability in cameos, a quarter here and there where he has been able to shift a game.
Jaidyn Stephenson showed a great deal more in his debut season, and his career is spiralling the drain only a few years later.
Henry has a long way to go to show he can be a long term player for us. There have been positive signs, for sure, but it’s a long bow to draw to call him a star or even a future star.

Geelong wouldn't cough up what they would have to lose to gain Henry next year. He's still unproven and would cost them a very low draft pick and maybe even a player. A good manager would make him sign up for the Pies for the next couple of years before trying to go to Geelong.Cats poster from the main board…
“I'm reliably informed that he'll sign a 2 year deal at the Pies and then head to Geelong when we have the trade assets and the need.
He loves Collingwood but wants to play with his brother at the club he grew up idolising.
That info was relayed about 2 weeks ago with re-signing not far away.
Unless something has changed that's what's happening”
Ceiling is just another word for potential, which is what we were busy admonishing Kappa for saying IIRC…He is one of the young guys in the Collingwood side that have demonstrated a very high ceiling.

Won't get a new contract at this rate.
24 years old, struggling at VFL level and out of contract, not really a big call.

I feel like in 2 years time, if all goes well, the trade a 22 year-old Henry would command would be pretty significant. I'm picturing a Jack Gunston-type 40+ goal-kickerCats poster from the main board…

Too many apostrophe issues here to respond in detail - just raising a general alertNothing like hyperbole.

Kappa said that Ollie only has potential at this stage and I clarified that this is how you'd describe a draftee; Ollie has shown what he can do at the senior level.
Still has things to work on.
I didn't admonish, I offered my view on Henry.
Agree to disagree.
“Showing what you can do” perhaps, but he’s yet to put a full game together let alone a run of games or a season, hence why he’s in the VFL at the moment. When he can establish a decent baseline for performance he’ll go from having potential (to be a consistent part of our best 22, let alone “star”) to delivering on that potential.
If you don’t like the Stephenson analogy, how about Ruscoe? He had some very strong games in defence, nailed some high-risk kicks into the corridor, looked a player… currently can’t get a game and lacks confidence.
Poulter “showed what he can do” last year and now is fighting to keep a spot on the list.
Begg “showed what he can do” for the senior side and aside from some hype amongst track-watchers, we have no idea whether he’ll have a career or even what position he’d play.
People are counting their chickens too soon with Ollie.
he has good hands but limited acceleration from a standing start, which isnt good for forward pressureOllie has demonstrated his ability at the highest level, he has much more than "potential".

Who comes out for this to happen? If they don't trial him alongside Johnson before the finals without being forced to by an injury I will be bitterly disappointed in the coaching committee. They need to find out now and it could pay off big time, remember they didn't even have Darcy Cameron in the side round 1.
