Come on, I don't think anyone can understand why you're making a big deal out of this! The rules for this award are quite clear, the nominees get named once (per year) and at the end of the year the judges work out who deserves to win.
Otherwise - you could conceivably have a bloke who is second best every week. Win the Brownlow, but is not nominated.

Whilst those nominated have played one above average game for the season, albeit a blinder.

There is also the factor that each week the NAB hands the nominee's local club $2500.

Ant your opinion is your own - but very good IS NOT the best on the day.

What is it with some of you that simply can't accept a simple statement of fact?

Your opinion is that it is like giving a kid who finishes last a participation ribbon. The process is not perfect(nothing is) but it’s designed to nominate 22 of the very best rookies(out of about 150 eligable each year) and only 1 wins the thing. Your entitled to have any opinion you want but in my opinion it’s absolutely nothing like a participation award. If it was then every eligable player would be nominated.

Treloar Trade:
Collingwood recieved Western Bulldogs received
Pick 14Adam Treloar
2021 2nd Rd Pick (WB)Pick 26
Pick 33
Pick 42

The Pick 14 received, slid down to Pick 17 (Henry) due to academy bids: JUH, Campbell and Jones.
Pick 14 and 35 (both picks slid back) are worth less than 26, 33, 42. They effectively got Treloar for free.
The only thing that slightly balances this back is getting Lipinski for a 3rd rd pick who is 6 years younger but performance in 2022 is around 2 less touches than Treloar.
To me Henry is what we gave up for Stephenson which is an upgrade. (26, 33, 42)
Treloar and a 3rd rd pick and Lipinski and a 2nd rd pick. The salary cap space is the killer as maybe that costs us a chance in next year or 2 bringing in a better quality player through FA.

Henry has been better then other 3 Kids

Im not going to pretend to know how this all works. But wouldnt 26, 33, 42 slide back at the same rate?

Interesting all the rage that was about McDonald in his draft year - right now if you could have McDonald or Henry - who would you choose?

Would have thought Henry’s game against Freo was better than McDonald against Dees
If he took advantage of a coupe of key moments maybe might have got him over the line. McDonald was really good. Breakout game for him. Henry has been stiff thus far, but I’m sure will get his chance. He’s every bit deserving

Except that he won the game for us,so yeah nah….
McDonalds game was slightly better and against reigning Premiers and an AA defender. Henry has had the better season in terms of output and was great yesterday. From that 2020 draft I'd have 1.McDonald 2. Henry at this stage although Gulden and Bowey have been very good.
