Yes. If they don't capitulate and actually live up to the hype unlike in previous seasons, a top-two finish in 2018 is likely. Have heard that Raiders are quicker off half back and around the ground than in previous seasons. Will be a good game to watch in round one between the Magpies, especially on the expanses of Birralee. Expect Raiders, Yarra and Wang to be in the frame for the flag this year.

I feel losing Mellington, Uthayakumar and Schulz will be too much for Albury, although it opens serious holes in their salary cap for a couple of big fish.

I wonder if Raiders can handle opposition tall forwards. They lost Giles who was full back and they were short back there anyway.

Great win by Corowa. For the sake of the competition I hope it’s more of a reflection on Corowa than a reflection on Rovers. Otherwise Rovers are in for a very tough year.
Good on them for playing so many local kids though.

Just having a look at the fixture now and if the pies lose this week i believe they'll be 0-4 come round 5. Not a great start to the season for the reigning premiers

Think Corowa have played hard ball long enough with Lawton and Rose. Why not just clear the blokes now. It really has turned into a lose lose situation.

I understand clubs wanting players to uphold there contracts and stay for more than one year. But what is Corowa gaining now by not allowing them to play in another competition? In my opinion All they have garaunteed themselves is that Lawton and Rose will never return to the club.

Why not clear them in the first place with the hope they may return in the future and drag a couple back with them from Mansfield? Yes this is highly unlikely given Lawton’s track record but is a much better alternative to burning the bridge all together.

Lawton is a mercenary , anyhow he'll be able to go many past players events and remember he signed a 2 year contract.

After the amount of money they were on and the drama they had to deal with, they would not of signed him to if they knew he was only play just over half a season. Simple - don't sign a contract you can't hold. What Corowa are doing right now is needed for football around the area, this will hopefully make people think twice about siging for big money and ditching their club for more money elsewhere. It's good to know that the contracts actually held power, and players can't just walk over them when a bigger offer gets thrown at them.

Must have saved a fair bit of $$ then if he only played half the season...

Perfect so keep a bloke out of footy for 12 months because he has had a change of heart.

Easy to sit back and say “simple don’t sign a contract you can’t hold”. Just as easy to say Simple don’t sign a bloke for so much $$ who is going to leave. Goes both ways.

Disagree with you on this
