Can I change it to Victorians in general?

Can you lot prounce "EL" as "EL" instead of "AL" when it occurs in the English language?

As in MELbourne....not MALbourne
ELliot... not ALliot

We know Victorians operate differently to us in God's Country that is NSW, and elsewhere, but for the sake of the rest of Australia, do us all a favour.

Thanks.

I’m a Victorian but I have noticed this strange pronunciation with some people. I don’t pronounce things like that and none of my family or friends do either. Very strange that there’s is a sub-group that do this. My wife and I always laugh when someone on the news is talking about the Elfred hospital. Eddie McGuire could be the biggest culprit.

As for NSW, having lived there for a dozen years, I did pick up some of the lingo. There is such a strong Aussie twang that doesn’t occur as much down south…e.g. they play some strange game called Rugba Lorg

Not sure this is a team thing or more of a coach/recruiting staff thing but despite what the media may think Sydney have been bad at clearances for a long time, well over a decade in fact. Other than one year I think we have finished in the bottom 6 in clearances compared to our opponents every year since Longmire took over in 2011 and despite this nothing is ever done about it. Longmire and the recruiting staff never address it, never even seem to see it as a problem and it always bites on our arse in the important games as our midfield gets dominated in the centre and our defence just can't cope with how easily the ball is coming in.

lol, they dont/didn't, do they? Thats horrendous.
And we should drop all the music and flashing of stadium lights after every goal for a home team at Marvel.
WTF is up with that garbage?
I remember Gold Coast was the most noticeable to do the 'sounds after a goal' with that little fanfare from their club song. I reckon Brisbane did/do something similar to what Geelong had.

Thankfully that has stopped and i dont recall music after goals either anymore

Not at all. Far from the most douche Warner in Australian sport.

Well, I can't argue with that. There are definitely levels of douche-ness though. Chad Warner might very well be an upstanding young bloke (though the picture obviously doesn't support this portrayal), but yea idk he just gives off douche vibes. Although does the fact that I am this presumptuous and judgmental make me a douche too? D'oh!!
