I was having a conversation with someone about history having discovered that she was a History teacher and HOD (Head of Dept) of History at her institution...

Being a fan of history I thought that I was about to have an interesting conversation ...

Step 1 - mention something about Gaius Marius and Lucius Cornelius Sulla from the late Roman Republican period ... apparently more Modern than Ancient
Oh ok so
Step 2 - mention something about the Congress of Europe in the post Napoleonic period ... apparently she was more Australian than general Modern.
Oh ok so
Step 3 - mention somthing about John MacArthur ... she got a quizzical look on her face and queried "He was something to do with sheep wasn't he?"

I mentally drew a line through history as a conversational topic with said lady and felt very sad for the students who would never ever catch a love of living history from such a being.

Good to see in your case that you were paying attention!

3KZ is Football - HAPPY TO TALK ABOUT BOLSHEVISM AND THE HISTORY OF LEFT RADICALISM AND CONSERVATIVE REACTION IN AUSTRALIA IN THE EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY. Also do a nice sideline in Australian Migration History and Modern European History.

Sunday game, may not play. Though given this game doesn't mean much I've no problems giving him a swan song.
