Operation get a ruckman

Would cost our first rounder, and considering he moved to Sydney for the money, imagine how much it would cost to shift him back down here as well.

Would you consider trading for Hampson?

A pick in the 30-45 range would do it for me.

Also, just want to say that Maric's goal and celebration was awesome - great finals moment.
You heard it here first.

Best of luck with Megan's bf - hopefully a career reboot will do him good.

Andy Lee can resume MC duties at Carlton club functions.

I don't think so, Warnock gave the blues on-ballers silver service. When they had a run on in the third we couldn't win a clearance and it was mainly because the hitouts were going straight to the blues. The same continued in the 4th.
That's one game, you said he needs replacing I think that was a bit harsh.

Based on what I saw across the whole season I don't think he has the athleticism to be one of the elite ruckmen in the comp long term. I'd rather replace him than give him an extra 'chop out' because doing that involves bringing another 200+cm player into the 22 each week and that would throw our balance out. Vickery gives more of a chop out than other rucks get at other clubs, I think the problem needs to be fixed by upgrading.

I think you guys have done well here. All Hammer needs is a fresh start with greater rucking opportunities. Carlton tried to play him as a forward which unfortunately was never going to work. He is a big boy with great athleticism and a huge leap, definitely not a natural footballer but if you play him purely as a ruck I think he can have a similar impact as Maric has had.

..i think this is a fair trade, slightly in your favour.. ..yes ppl may think he hasn't done enough in his time with the blues, but after drafting krooz and then trading in warnock, opportunity was always going to be hard to get.. ..for what it's worth, in his time with us he's played roughly the same amount of games as has warnock.. ..hammer's ruckwork is better than many give him credit for, his issue was he wasn't able to get anywhere near enough senior games consecutively.. ..last year was the most he ever played consecutive games at senior level [first half of season], played as 2nd ruck/fwd and kicked 20.4.. ..personally i'd have rather held on to him, and traded out warnock.. .... ..last year and year before he succumbed to PCL injuries, not sure if same knee or both knees.. ..but he's a big ruck, and will leap over pretty much every other ruck in the comp at center bounces..

..has massive upside, if he can put it all together.. ..personally if he stays fit and gets a good run i can see him being your first ruck fairly quickly..

Ah well we will have to agree to disagree on that, lets hope Hammer grows into the first ruck role, nice to have some solid depth in this area for once.

Probably great blokes, but boy were they ordinary.. :p

I always liked Browne after he towelled all the Bummer rucks by himself. Huge heart Big Browney. My other favourite moment was a game against Melbourne really early in his career and he received a free and he's gone back the wrong way to take the kick and the ump and man on the mark hadn't realised. Then Browney realises turns around and starts bolting towards our goals. Then the bastard ump brought him back. Lol

I think I remember that. :D

My favourite memory of his was in the dreamtime game when his face got all swollen and smashed up and one of the commentators (might have been Robert Walls) made a remark about him being in the wars or something like that. He was as red as anything and blowing air hard. Could tell he was busting his gut and then some. :thumbsu:

Lets see...Carlton tried to turn him into a forward and he didn't measure up.

So like all potential key forwards at RFC who don't make an immediate impact in front of goals, we'll try and turn him into a defender, right?

because we are not brave. simple. we go conservative. how do we let this slip? dont give me the rubbish about salary cap. we go for a spud like hampson when mcvoy was open to offers.

I'd def prefer McEvoy too - pretty good player .... and for pick 19 and Savage - a goood win to Hawks.

I believe a lot of hampson's salary will continue to be paid by carlton.

Anyhow we have Hampson I wonder how he'll go
