Coach Operation Get Hardwick

Best we can do would be senior assistant to Josh Carr. Reckon Hardwick and Gale will reunite in tassie.

Hardwick with Carr and Dew as assistants.

Hinkley to Gold Coast

I am not sure why many of us are so enamored with Stuart Dew? In six seasons at the Suns his best finish is 12th but he does have a wooden spoon in the cabinet. In fact under Dew the Suns have only won 33 out of 115 games! Hardly a CV built on success. I realise the Suns have some unique problems but the exodus of top draft picks out of the Suns has not eased under Stuart Dew. I have yet to see any real evidence the Stuart can actually coach.

As for Ken Hinkley, I do not give a rats where he goes as long as he goes.

This situation is fraught with danger for us.

Koch has a history of flinching when other clubs move and we could end up with Ken on a long term deal.

Hardwick would be perfect but not sure he’ll jump straight back in.

Also has the potential to be a distraction for the remainder of the year when we should be focusing in on the now.

Very interested to see how the club plays this out. Keep Koch away from commenting at all would be my preference. He can only **** it up.

Oh and yeah, get Dimma here!

I think the love stems from GC being Ken’s preferred destination so anything to free up the role Dew is in up there is the goal.

If Hardwick and Carr could work together it would be awesome, two tough nuts running the show, the only problem is I'm not sure if the players are tough enough, so soft under Donuts.
How can you say the players are soft after what we’ve seen recently???

Yeah they’re not smacking guys out and winning by 10 goals every game but hardness at the contest and resilience to turn games when momentum is against us is clearly there.

Our problem under Ken has always been method not toughness.

If Hardwick wants to get out of Melbourne, is a bit frazzled but still good to go, our possible coaching job would be extremely attractive for him.

He is a very smart and shrewd operator and he will know our list is cherry ripe in the next year or two to challenge for premierships for many years thereafter.

He will know what is good, what needs to change, what to improve and what needs to be brought in.

He will know we are playing good football but still have a lot of improving to do.

If he still has the energy, he would be crazy not to demand the job.

Over the last couple of years i thought Hardwick was the coach we needed.
To me he epitomised the touch uncompromising edge our playing group needs.
Given that he has pulled the plug at this point of the season I’m not sure he is our best option.
It’s now almost June, allowing for the fact the draft etc starts in September it’s not a lot of time to recover from the burn out/stress.
Somehow I think there’s a big chance he doesn’t coach next season.
Right now we need change but I’m not sure a burnt out coach who potentially has lost the drive and hunger is what we need.
Obviously we need to ask the question but it is definitely not a simple decision.

if hes truly burnt out, i reckon we are gunna be one year too early.

you wouldn't think 3-4 months will fix the burnout.

he will get a media job and earn plenty in the meantime.

whatever happens we need to keep koch away from hinkley

Senior coaching =/= assist coaching. He may not be successful as a senior coach. But he was a pretty highly rated assistant prior to being at the suns and would walk into any club as an assistant.

I’m probably getting caught up in the romanticism of getting some premiership players back. But he would definitely add value.

Hardwick will not coach next year, why would ya? feet up, spend some cash you've accumulated on fun s**t & maybe do some cushy media spots.

The guy has climbed the mountain 3 times as a coach, the desire will never be the same.
What's Ken's excuse for having no desire? Warren Tredrea perhaps

For the first time in a long time I like our coaching set up, even Chadbro. It’s the best system we’ve had in a decade. I don’t think I want to change it if adding Hardwick will destabilise it. The history of AFL isn’t littered with multiple club premiership coaches.

very intriguing, he could just be cooked and needs a break (or a nice job at rebuilding WCE), or it could be prime time to pounce. but how do they orchestrate ken's exit especially with a 7 game win streak? that's the part i can't see. find out more..... tomorrow!!!!!!
