Basket case of a club - hope they find the leaker.

From an external view, have been so much better for Dew to get to the end of the year then not be re-appointed.
That's the worst thing for the club though. Making the decision as soon as possible and giving themselves time to sign the best replacement is far better.

no issues with the decision. dew has been there awhile, lots of talent but they need a culture change coach to build a brand. The afl would be 100% happy with this decision.

Hardwick would be their no 1 no doubt. They’ve got some serious talent on that list

Dew has had 5 and a half yrs probably enough time, when you look at them they still have some serious talent to come this year from their academy plus quite some talent already.

They are probably glad they dodged a bullet with Clarkson and I think they expected improvement this season which is fair enough with what Dew has pick from.

I do not think Dew would have got an extension if Clarkson were available when they were looking last season but with Dimma looking for a job he was too good pass up.

All these footy administrators think its all about wins and losses in building a club
As if GC will be a success if they start making finals
Even if they win a flag noone cares

Quite the contrary, they need to be thinking about the club and how it relates to its community and its environment, and how it connects and builds a base. Making it a meaningful enterprise. An institution people care about and means something to them.

Hardwick is not the man for this job. They need someone with personality and heart and vision.
Look at the Rob Murphys and Brett Kirks of this world, people who can build a club, regardless of wins and losses

We are lucky right now we have a team at the top that know how to do both

To retain/grow their supporter base and keep their best players, GC needs a coach that they all believe has the profile, skills and experience to take them to finals and ultimately a Premiership. Hardwick fits the bill, even if his “burned out” excuse for walking out of the Richmond job know looks a bit suss.

A bit suss?

Whatever happens with Gold Coast they will never grow offield because:

1. Brisbane already have the majority of supporters there.
2. No one gives a shit about footy there, it's all surfing and rugbah league.

AFL know it was a fail, they are wasting so much money keeping them afloat and don't have the cahones to admit it and re-brand them.

Piss weak really. They probably did as well as anyone has all year against Port over there on the weekend. Sacking him based on the past 2 weeks alone seems a bit reactionary but ah well
They did get flogged by Carlton before their last two defeats. That list should be playing finals.
