Geez with the amount of angst, drivel and unrepentant and unjustified hatred towards Maynard this week from Melb supporters, ex players and officials, I have just realised why we hated this club for years and years, irregardless our losses in finals.
Have these cronies ever realised this is a very vigorous game and occasionally incidents unavoidable do happen.
We ain’t playing croquet or pétanque here.
Effing deluded dimwits.
This is reignited my dormant dislike for this mob, almost pains me to barrack for the scum on Fri nite.
Actually can they both effing lose..
A rematch in the grand final would be epic!!

Meh, it’s just theatre, Melbourne’s attempt at “it’s us against them” … it’s good for publicity, good for getting the players energised, good for getting people talking about it and engaged, getting the fans along to the game on Friday night (would have thought the MCG will be dominated by Carlton fans)

Words like "legend" and "superstar" get bandied about indiscriminately these days, but Ron Barassi definitely qualifies.
Vale, Ron.
Yep. Huge figure in the game. One of the absolute greats.

the source of many of my mental scars but well done ron...
RDB was fascinated by Cwood and wanted to coach us but the club was only interested in past players as coach back then. Fair chance he would have snagged us a flag or two.

ancient collingwood... the only tradition that I really respect is winning premierships. You can keep the rest of the back-slapping

There’s been a few comments about Barrasi already, well before my time but his record speaks for itself - an immortal of the game for sure. Condolences to his friends and family.

I’m no football historian but he certainly had his hands over a few of our worst GF losses. A 6-1 record agains the Pies in Granny’s - his glory, our heartache. With the utmost respect, RIP.

Collingwood GF record pre Barrass lifetime: 10-9, during Barrasis lifetime: 5–2-18
We managed to win one the year he was born (1936), but his strength grew quickly and we lost 3 on the trot in ‘37, ‘38, ‘39.

Winning Player GFs vs Collingwood
‘55, ‘56, ‘60, ‘64

Losing Player vs Collingwood
‘58

Winning Coach GF vs Collingwood
’70,’77
