Surely that the end of the cats now. Their list is thinning fast. Holmes injury prone, Griers and Stengle one way runners.
That leaves close Henry Henry and maybe Neale Dempseyand dekoning as the only quality players left in the right age bracket.
Stanley touhy cameron Duncan Dangerfield Rohan stewart c Guthrie Blicavs all on the downward slope or retired already.
the next age group in the mid late 20s just vanilla role players…kolodjashnji, Atkins O’Connor patfitt x Guthrie bowes bruhn.

Disagree. They pinched one flag that was long overdue two years ago, using that aging list, after ten years of failure when they should have won more.
They haven’t yet proven they can actually rebuild properly with a medium term view and win flags. 2011 with Scott’s first flag was of course very much with an inherited premiership list.
Reckon the slide starts now.

Unfortunately they've got an excellent group of youngsters.
Unclear as yet how many they have and how good they are. Suspect some of them like miers just had a season “ out of the box”.

I ****ing love him. How stupid are the opposition teams falling for it. They get angry and frustrated at him and he keeps winning games for him. I wish he played for us.
I don’t think so. This sort of thinking based on general list age averages just does not cut it anymore.
Older players contribute way more than they used to, across all sports in the world due to advances in sport science, nutrition and fitness. 35 is the new 30.
Top end draftees are way more game ready than they used to, due to professional pathways and general resources available. Again across all sports. So some 18/19yo can change an entire team’s fate. Won’t be long before there’s a Messi in the AFL (and some might argue we’ve got close to it with Nick
). Free agency, mid season drafts, Cat B rookies, increased player movement means you have no reason to wait for a full rebuild if your list just needs a few top ups to contend.
If you’ve got a good head recruiter, football department, coach, club culture (which Geelong does) then you can only be counted out for a year or two, max three. That’s how many trade and draft periods you’d need to ‘rebuild’.
On another note…
It’s hard to win the premiership from outside the top four and has only been done once in the current final eight system.
However let’s not forget Brisbanes first game in the finals series was a bruise free bye against Carlton!! They would have spent more energy that day getting out of bed in the morning

With all the resources he has at his disposal, he should have won more than 1 flag. Yes, I'm not counting his first year in 2011 because he looked like a lost lamb. The 2011 side coached itself to victory. He's not that good and I ****ing hate him
