It would kill me to see Carlton win a flag in the next few years after 20 years in the wilderness when we were regular finalists and played in five GFs for one flag.

I’ve been saying it for years.The Carlton list is so much better than the rubbish on ours. We are doomed to be down for years while they will be up. Barracking for the Pies is hard work.
Carlton are closer to a flag than us.
They cleared out the deadwood before we did, so have that advantage. And they were stuck so far down the ladder for so many years that they are benefiting from the socialist drafting policies. Another advantage over our middle of the road years.
Melbourne fans are a joke. They have won a flag but still turn up in very average numbers at the G and hardly show at all out at Marvel.

As good as Carlton looked, it occurred to me if the Pies had played that way last night (i.e. dominating and out to a 38 point lead, only to have Sydney fight back and whittle it down to 11 points late in the 4th q), the media and our fans would be focussed on the fact that we let a big lead slip, not slapping us on the back and celebrating the good players we have. PS - Maclure was so smug on ABC radio this afternoon, singing the praises of his beloved Blues.
