Is there a reason CJ hasn’t been floated as a forward. Great burst, can take a grab, his excitement will be less of a liability there.

I’m also interested to see what happens with Nash.

I know you shouldn’t take much out of a pre-season game, but that lineup against St Kilda was too tall and one paced.

I can’t see the forward-line of Patton, Lewis, O’Brien and Gunston working. There’s simply not enough speed in that forward half of the ground.

This is precisely why Burgoyne needs to play forward this year. Impey too when he comes back from injury.

The exciting thing for me is I genuinely can't pick a best 22 and be comfortable that will be what we roll out. Remember when Hardwick came in to play in the backline at the start of 2017 and we were all confused why.

Hopefully another player or 2 bob up and surprise us with cementing a spot.

We may not have too many A graders on our list atm but we have a lot of solid players and we seem to have better depth going into this year compared to the last couple.

Here's hoping a couple make the leap into A grade territory.

How long is big boy out for? Has there been any word yet?
Depends on the Corkie. Wouldn't be surprised if he didn't miss a game. Being preseason they might be conservative though. Depends on how the bleeding settles

Interested to see how tall you guys go this season. Ceglar, McEvoy, Patton, Lewis, O’Brien, Gunston, Frost, Frawley, Sicily, Stratton is a giant side.

Thankfully from that list Sicily, Stratton and Frost can play small. You have also left out Conor Nash who could be the worlds tallest small pressure forward at 197cm.

Could make or break us a few times this year. Hopefully our smaller midfield brigade somehow helps compliment the rest of the talls.

Maybe the other way around for mine... IIRC Hardwick was a forward in his early years... He’s a pretty straight kick imho...
Would love to see him get some more forward minutes- he is probably exactly what we need up there. Only problem is we need another defender who can match his acumen down back and I'm not sure if we have that just yet.

Yeah not being critical just interesting. Could be a real positive if Gunston/O’Brien can take advantage of some defences 4th defender.

With 6-6-6, its not going to work unless theres centre bounce dominance even 50-50 in there Opponents can get half backs into the contest quickly. Maybe Ttherell be talls on the bench a centre bounces. Maybe bigboy and Ceglar need to ruck 50:50. need runners to have extra elite endurance like Scully to compensate for lack of bench time for other players

Centre bounces aren’t the only way to get 1 on 1s fast transition on opposition turnovers probably generates more space in the forward line imo.

Stratts will play 100%.

Stratts Frawley Hardwick
Frost Mcevoy Sicily
Omeara Mitch Scully
Smith Lewis Hendo
Breust Patton Gunston
Cegs Worpel Wingard

Scrimshaw,tob,Shiels,Poppy

I really don't think we need Mcevoy down back with frost & frawley. I want the extra ball user ie Cj, or smith of half back, but clarko knows best!
this will be the back 6 barring injury.

I have loved stratts forever but this season I'm pretty doubtful for him. This will be a tough year for him.

Post Saints game...

Hardwick Frawley Scrimshaw

Did Burgoyne retire?

Which makes the decision to make him captain again a high risk decision by the club.
Having a constant narrative about whether the club is going to drop the acting captain is a distraction that will not be helpful at all.

Every team seems to be looking at injecting pace off half back or getting there better ball user's there yet we decide to turn our no1 ruck into a chb aswell as adding frost. The hard calls will have to be made based on form this pre season , surely two talls forward and back plus a ruck is plenty. Especially since Sicily can play tall if needed and gunston the same forward. Gee Our squad really Lacks x factor the impey loss is so hard to cover.

Stratton frawley hardwick
Sicily frost burgoyne

Smith Mitchell scully

Gunston O'Brien Wingard
Bruest Patton puopolo

Ceglar o'meara worpel

Shiels , henderson , hanrahan , Morrison

If scrimshaw is fit he plays. Went obrien over lewis at this stsge purely because he didnt have an interrupted pre season . Morrison and hanrahan lucky but i was just aiming for a tiny bit of extra run and creativity , list feels a bit shallow outside our anundance of talls.
