Damn i got close to this week starting side had 16 of the starting 18 on field.
I thought Scim was still injured.

-Picked Jom at hff
-I Had the wrong winger at hbf Hendo not Izzy!

It wouldn’t surprise me, especially given the Minchington decision, if we’re preparing Jaeger for alot for forward fifty time this year.

Pretty sure Scrim played last week Vs Saints. We need him up and running with Hardwick out for a while.

I may have missed the improvement in Morrison's game but even with the injuries we have, and to positions he's able to play at that, I don't see him making the grade. Too one paced, vanilla etc.

We need to see if CJ can make the grade if looking at run and carry or Greaves if just replacing Dimma. Greaves kicking penetration alone are a massive + for mine.

Agreed. Needs to massively improve to be considered. Seems to be playing as a medium to small defender. Would rather CJ or Greaves get a run ahead.

FF: Breust - Patton - Puopolo
HF: Hendo - O'Brien - Wings
Ce: Scully - Worps - Smith
HB: CJ - Frost - Sicily
FB: Stratton - Frawley - Scrimshaw

Ru: McEvoy
RR: O'Meara
Ro: Mitchell

Int: Cegs, Burgers, Shiels and Cousins

Injured: Dimma, Gunners, Impey, Howe...

Don't rate: Morrison or Hanrahan

No room for Mitch Lewis?

With a full list to choose from I still don’t think O’Brien is best 22. I hope I’m wrong though!

He will play early while Gunston is out, so hopefully he grabs this opportunity and that last years form was truly a sign that he’s turned things around and it wasn’t just a small purple patch.

Cegs is ruck, BB in backline. I know people don’t like, but it’s happening.

i think you guys are sleeping on Morrison he was well ahead of the pack in his debut season, one injury riddled season doesn't define a young player
short memories, let's see how he looks tonight vs a decent melb side!

Stratts Frawley Morrison
Sicily Frost Scrimshaw
Henderson Shiels Smith
Bruest TOB Scully
Ollie Patton Silk
McEvoy Jaeger Wingard
Ceglar Mitchell Nash Worpel

Worpel is out of form and Mitch still understandably rusty.

Lewis may not get up with that ankle. Injuries are already hurting us.

McEvoy in the backline makes us far too slow.

Forward line tackling needs to improve significantly.

Hope we have some tricks up our sleeve for round 1 because Brisbane are far better than Melbourne and St Kilda.

My biggest issue with Morrison is that he approaches opposition players like Smith does, with his arms out like an airplane, zoning from a meter away. He needs to be far more disruptive with his pressure game.

He had a solid game in a side that looked dis interested.
That message should be made from the coaches for both players.

You really reckon they won't play stratts?

If they were picking a side on exposed form they shouldn't, but unfortunately given they made him captain again he will keep getting games even though he is well of the pace of AFL.

It worries me somewhat that the club has made a rod for their own back in making him captain. This won't end well for anyone.

Needs more ruckmen played out of position. We need to be slower

I'm starting to think we need Burgoyne to return to defence for his foot skills and mobility. At least for the start of the season.

The backline, with Scrimshaw and McEvoy, doesn't make sense on paper.

Nah Tommy... they will play Stratton, same for Poppy. This is my best 22 for rd one.
Pre season form, last years form taken into account...
Gunston would be the obvious inclusion here for Greaves or CJ.
I also think Lewis can play in this side but there would be a bench rotation to have one of the big guys on the bench for most of the game until after half time. “Big guys don’t get shorter” and this will suit our game style with a mobile Gunston & O’Brien roaming high CHF running the oppo around.

I’d really like to see Morrison further up the ground delivering to leading forwards because he is one of few guys that has a decent kick 30-40m that isnt too loopy. People are down on him but I see a stark contrast to last season already with the way his positioning around the ground has more a 2018 look. Not to mention his lock down tackle on Friday night.
I think that Greaves can play a role very similar to Hardwick to accomodate this.

Poppy is done for mine and I think we have the capacity to roll the mids through the pocket. Wingard, Worpell, Jaeger and Mitchell could all play 1 out in the forward line as well as apply pressure. Breust, Patton and Nash should be the consistent inside 50m players out side of the tall rotation mentioned before.

I think we are very flexible but carrying Stratton, Poppy will be restricting the progress of others and limit that flexibility.

I reckon Gunston will slot in down back once fit.

I hope your wrong. Playing a 50 goal a year forward in the backline makes no sense when we can barely kick 10 to 12 goals a game as it is.
We need his foot skills. We are missing hardwick and impey our of our defence from last year. Need to replace the skills and he is one that can do it.

Understand this thinking, but in my view we need his foot skills in the front half just as much. Lewis/Patton will need to be hit lace out occasionally to be most effective.
