Roast Our fitness department - highly offensive/offended

Jenny61 I am a poster that thinks you bring a different side to posting on this site and add real value and the feedback you gave from Brisbane breakfast was great, but don't understand why you seem to be siding with no criticism of Burton when his selection and promotion was suspect at best and wrecked our season with camp and pre season and fitness support .
Our team is still in good shape to go well but unless something done we will self destruct .
Maybe you could help us understand your view on Fagan -- Burton and how we can get back on track.
This a genuine request from me to try to work out whats going on and how we get out of this.
When people on AFL TV tell us to stop spinning lies doesn't put my club in great light.
I don't know why you think I've been supportive of Burton - at all? I've said many times that I believe both he and Hass need to go. Not because of the camp (because I believe that is being completely blown out of proportion)... rather the high incidences of hamstrings (the second year in a row) and what appears to be mismanagement of injuries (now whether that's them or the medicos I'm unsure). As for Fagan... I'm very disappointed in the lack of open communication shown by the Club this year, and I've written a fairly lengthy email to him regarding this - still awaiting a reply.

Pretty much how I see it.

This media blow up over CM is actually working in the club's favor.

They can point to no longer using CM any more it was a mistake. Meanwhile Burton remains in his job.

At least Saunders working with the club (albeit not Full Time and still helping North) is one step in the direction of identifying the key reason for our poor 2018 and a resolution.

Our club needs to get better at PR spin and managing a message. This entire CM saga is more about how our club has handled the media and messaging rather than the actual affects of CM and the camp itself.

Keen to hear what he says to you Jen.

I'm not nearly as happy over Saunders as most people here seem to be.

It's clear we've bought him in because we've been absolutely butchered by Kangatech. But rather than doing the sensible thing and getting rid of the software we're doubling down on it.

Kangatech does not have much proof behind it at all other than a very small sample size in the Kangaroos recent injury history.

Furthermore as someone who works in the field of data science I am highly skeptical they could have enough data to form predictions with a high confidence interval.

I have to disagree with you here. Have you read any of the supporting studies?

As this is the field I'm also in, I have to say I'm glad we have Dr Saunders as apart of our team, I just hate the fact that he has to report to Haas, who in turn reports to shit lips. I think like anything in the S&C world we need to be skeptical, but open minded.

I'm glad we've acknowledged we have a problem so we've done something about it by getting Dr Saunders, only thing that would make me happier would be to get the out spoken Cristian Woodford as apart of our team (love that guy)

100% incorrect.

This guy is world renowned in his field, having him inside the club is a huge deal.

Look up Groin guru posts on the subject they explain it very well. may ease your concerns.

Have to disagree. On the surface, Saunders sounds like a good appointment.

Steve is a well renowned Physiotherapist with over 25 years experience in the treatment and management of musculoskeletal injury and dysfunction. He is recognised nationally and internationally as a leader of performance management and has been a keynote and invited speaker at numerous international conferences.

Steve is currently the High Performance Manager – Director of Sports Science and Medical Services at the North Melbourne Football Club in the AFL. His approach to injury management and prevention has resulted in significant reductions in player injury rates whilst maximising player performance. Before commencing with NMFC, Steve was a consultant to numerous AFL teams and many other sporting teams and organisations such as the US Ski team, Cricket Australia, the South Australian Cricket Association, Athletics Australia, the UK Sports Institute, and more recently the National Basketball Association.

Steve completed his PhD candidature in 2007 at the University of Queensland investigating the motor control mechanisms underlying control of the lumbo-pelvic region during human locomotion in normal and low back pain subjects. He has published works in internationally peer-reviewed journals and continues to develop management strategies based on scientific evidence-based practice.

IF he was a full time appointment and a proper member of the staff I'd agree he's a good get.

What I don't like is the feeling that he's going to be 100% focused on this kangatech BS.

Share a link to some of the studies?

Burton and Hass have had their go. They used up their 'go' in destroying the squad with injuries and a shitty camp. They absolutely must be shown the door and to suggest otherwise is madness.

That would require the majority of the management team taking ownership of their mistakes and most probably costing them their job...I would've been sacked months ago if I did this to my company.

I'm not holding my breath Bigfella.
Which would indicate your concerns are justified. I've gone from enjoying to taking issue with approach to controlling messaging. Put an expansion of that in the members survey.

I've not been following closely enough this season to take the email route.

I get the not responding to every little thing lest you give it more air than it deserves, but it got to the point where our captain was being bashed from pillar to post and not a word from the club. That really pissed me off.

From what I can tell the Kangtech is just a tools analysis to help players improve, and it also relies on the person interpreting the data and then giving the right information to the players. So hiring a guy like Saunders would be better for the interpretation side of things.

If there is interpretation from a person rather than an actual system behind it's analytics it's utterly worthless.
