By this logic we should just give it to Bongs Rioli. He's in our best 22 at least so he couldn't be any worse than Jonas.

Let’s pick someone who talks well, looks sharp, makes the other players feel warm and fluffy about themselves, and plays well in the Home and Away games. Not being able to ****ing lay a tackle in a final or win a hard ball shouldn’t matter.

Houston, Rozzee or Butters. Even if they struggled tonight, they at least show a desire to win and are elite ball users.
Personally, I'd go Butters as capt with Rozzee vice. Houston, SPP, Alliir, Drew and Bergman considered for leadership group.

Agree, Dan is the man in my opinion. He has age, experience and performance on his side and has a passable media presence.

Knowing Hinkley, Koch and Co these are probably reasons why Houston will not get the job. Ken will probably put it to a player vote and they will pick their favourite.

If Dan did win the job he would be the second one time Rookie listed player in a row to take on the Port Captaincy.

Yes, I agree. I had not had Wines on the trade table but after his lack lustre finals campaign his value to us has dropped. I would also think seriously about putting Duursma on the table. Both players are contracted but as we saw with Chad Wingard that means nothing if an agreement can be reached. We do not have any draft picks and if we want to pick up a couple of quality talls we need to shed a couple of players with some trade value.

Trade Ollie Wines and make Dan Houston captain sounds OK to me. Then again sacking Koch and Hinkley also sounds good to many of us but we know it will not happen.

Let Rozee, Butters and, for the next two years Bergman and JHF, simply think about their footy.

Rioli, Lord and Dixon are the only ones who play with anything that actually resembles aggression and desire. Maybe Butters at times.

Everyone else is too nice. Ollie Wines is a very nice person but this club does not need a nice captain. So is Rozee, Houston, Drew, whoever else.

I don't really care about the quality of the player, the only thing that matters is the mentality. There needs to be a cultural shift and that will only occur with putting a player with the right character in the position. We need less Boaks and Wines'

Nope, the next captain should not be Wines ... but I can't stomach another player becoming captain and trumpeting about Ken's loves and kisses, and Ken's taught me to be a good human being first, etc ...

So with Ken here for two more years, let it be Wines. It would be fitting.

I believe Butters is the player who would take his game to the next level if appointed captain and also inspire others to be better, but I would have no issue with Houston getting the gig either.

It's a virtual certainty the club will take the easy way out and appoint Wines though, and we will need to be prepared to endure two more years of mediocrity, or in kokspeak `stability!'
