Let's look at what we know as fact.

This year's leadership group was Jonas, Wines and DBJ. Jonas is gone and DBJ is now a role playing pressure forward who could possibly find himself on the fringes of the team next year. Wines is realistically the one one in contention from this year's group.

It is known that Rozee and Butters are being groomed internally as future leaders and in fact participate in a lot of the leadership group stuff. They would have to be in contention.

Houston has never held a leadership role or been mentioned by anyone from the club as a future leader. His name being floated is purely fan talk as far as I can tell.

So it's down to Wines, Rozee and Butters. Funnily enough the trio who let us down more than anyone this finals campaign. I don't envy trying to pick a captain from the group but if I had to I think I'd go Butters. The time for Wines as captain has passed for me and in the Rozee and Butters 'disappear when the going gets tough' act I think it's Rozee who is the more flaky of the two.

It would be nice if JHF was a few more years advanced, the discussion would be easy then.

i think butters is the ovbious choice, i dont think houston is a captain of a top 4 side, rozee doesnt lead by example on some occations, like last night. Butters resembles a port adelaide player, puts his body on the line, he is the ovbious selection

Wasn't the take away from that interview that he sounded like he didn't care ?

He sounded like he'd just played 2 hours of football, had his season ended and then got asked to front the media because the leadership group where all too scared or didn't even play.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with all of that.

Rozee and Butters have been awesome in all areas on and off the field up until the last two weeks.
The last two weeks have been disappointing.

If you judge the last two weeks, we ain't go no leadership anywhere.

Rozee acts like a captain in most ways. He's smooth and professional.
Butters is a bit of a bogan but has more heart. He is not the best orator and doesn't quite look the part.

I would go Rozee and 1 and Butters as 1A and that doesn't need co-captains but a closely linked leadership group.

Wines will probably get the job though.

Did Jonas get chaired off the field last night?? Legit embarrassed for him if true but typical of the club at the moment.

Didn’t achieve shit let’s celebrate.

Probably deserves a testimonial dinner

Connor proved in enough losses throughout the season that he absolutely should be. Had a down game last night but it changes nothing.

Statue at entrance to AO.

Maybe they should bulldoze that eyesore commemorating some scarcely known geezer named E. Berhtt and put Jona's statue there instead?

Fact. Houston has been mentioned as a leader in the past by both coaches and players. He's also put his own hand up. The covid ban he received set him back otherwise he would have been in the leadership team in 2021, in 2022 they just kept the same group which was a huge mistake - they should have all been swapped out then.

DBJ will be lucky to make the side next year. Rozee, Butters and JHF are all kids. Wines should be traded.

A captain has to lead and inspire (Trent Cotchin, Joel Selwood, Toby Green). It's very hard to think of who that is in our team at the moment when our midfield has gone missing of late.

If Bergman was older I'd choose him he's a wingman who wants to play centre but has made the most of being made to play in the backline due to injury all year. He was superb yesterday. He's intelligent, well spoken and gets the job done.

Right now though it's Houston.

For what it is worth Houston was Captain of Camberwell Grammer (when he was drafted).
