I wonder who the mentor is who Ross referred to the other night on FC. Said he spoke to him weekly during his coaching career seeking honest feedback.

I don’t think it’s Paul Roos. It doesn’t sound like a well known person. It could be a non football person. This guy has sat in on a lot of meetings etc and given reports to Ross on his performance. Would have to have been present a lot at stkilda and/or freo.

In a previous footy classified show Lyon mentions, when talking about the Carlton list, he has some sort of conflict of interest when talking up Carlton’s draftees as though he was somehow involved. Does anybody know anything about this?

Lyon has been auditioning all year.

I'd love to make a bet that I would get Dan gorringe tatood on my face if he didn't become the next carlton coach... But I think thats a bad idea

Don't know about that.
If he had taken the Carlton job he would have been straight into it while his head was still spinning from what's happened and under pressure straight away while not 100% invested.
He will be at the Hawthorn B+F winding down and getting the accolades and send off he deserves and still making his 900k next year.
A good rest and time to decide if and when and where he would like to coach again and in 12 months time could be good to go to take a new challenge on.

Possible. But my bet is that he realizes life after footy is a hell of a lot less stressful and falls into something he has been wanting to do outside football. He isn't getting any younger either.

No joke, would love to interview Daisy Pearce. If not for Senior Coach at least in out coaching mix.

Love this post because sadly, things like this don't get considered anywhere near enough.

Very astute football brain and imho absolutely runs rings around most of the other "special comments" people on Channel 7 and MMM.

It would be considered very "outside the box" when, with what she's shown, it really shouldn't be.

Reflective of the world we still live in I guess.

Does Daisy have any coaching experience? Did a quick google but didn’t find anything?

Whoever it is, they must be strong enough to make the hard calls; what has become apparent post the review is that there was an undercurrent of some senior players who werent on board with the coach and the young guns were firing and would have been happy with Teague continuing——- playing Marc Murphy and allowing him to pathetically limp to an individual milestone, persevering with and not dropping two under performing captains has been fatal to Teague’s tenure. Carlton needs a ruthless operator who will place club in front of individual—- we‘ve been held back by this since Kouta; Whitnall, Fevola days.

I think you might find that it's the opposite, it was the senior players who got Teague the job (after getting Bolts sacked) and were favoured, and it was the division with the younger players that has been an issue.

Yet some of the older players are said to have turned on Teague while many of the younger players had supported him

Thanks, already read the article, have online access through contacts (would never fork out my hard earned for HS...)

Nice article, highlights Lyon's strengths really well.

Next time include at least 2 paragraphs from an article that way we can get an idea of what it's about. ;)
