Nicks and McRae combo sounds pretty good. Nobody is overly inspiring in isolation but put together sounds refreshing.

Could be like a Sando and Bailey combo. One a happy go lucky character and another a strategist pulling the strings

You watch, when Port finally sack Hinkley, Clarkson will be available along with 2 or 3 other premiership coaches. Bookmark it.

Meanwhile, we've got The Gong Show's list of acts lined up.
At 65 Clarko may not want to be a head coach again.

Port will make Finals next year and then get another extension after that.

I wouldnt put it beyond us to speak to Clarko if and when he is free.

Our next coach is here for a rebuild, not a title shot.

It’ll be Campo. Nothing more important than largesse that results in an incumbent being elevated. The great thing about Campo is that he’s super pumped to work under the Burto system. Bookmark this, both these morons are getting promotions. We’re completely f’ed.
This hasn't aged well old mate....

Clarkson will never coach Port.

Like I said before, he couldn't see the forest for the trees. It wasn't until he made a throw away line at the end of the season and he got this HUGE backlash on twitter and on the radios (I can't even remember what he said now) that it seemed to jolt him into reality. Once that happened, the external review was announced within days.

I tend to agree.

I have no doubt Roo has the best of intentions with our club and I think he made good choices with regards to sacking Sando then bringing in Walsh and later Pyke. When Roo came in, he brought with him a breath of fresh air, benefited I think from time away from the club and in the media, whereby he was free to be critical of the goings on and from such a position its much easier to see the bigger picture.

Unfortunately I think the club board/administration had developed an extremely arrogant, insular, elitist culture, whereby anyone who dared question how they do things clearly has no idea "because they don't know". We've also been keen to follow "the road less travelled", the less obvious path, which is sometimes correct, but sometimes we just make things harder on ourselves than we need to, but in doing this it has fueled this superiority complex.

I think Roo was quickly absorbed into this culture once he started working at the club and it, as you say, become very hard for him to see the woods from the trees. Roo's also quite a matesy, social kind of guy, whom I suspect has an element of being loyal to a fault. This endears him to many people, however made it even harder to make the tough calls once he got to know these people.

I suspect Roo is better suited to a less "hands on" position on the board than "Director of Football". I think you have Roo on the board for his contacts within the media landscape and sounds like he's been quite crafty at times with how he's been able to leak info to his mates at Triple M and Fox.

Glad I bookmarked it

Fagan is on record as saying the new coach has the opportunity to bring a coach alongside him (replacing Campo) "of his own choosing"

Let's see if that eventuates
Great. Where's that?

Why? Money talks, and even though Port don't have any, the AFL always seem to find a way to help them out. Also, maybe Clarkson would like the idea of a trip to China.
I can't see him leaving the Hawks, especially as they're looking at a bit of a rebuild and he would want to take that challenge on again. Also, China is a waste of time for everyone. Amazing that it was supposed to grant them a profit yet they're strapped for cash.

Garbage comment. He's here to win flags.

We are refreshing the list. We've still got a core group of experienced players. I think they can win the flag next year. Theres no such thing as premiership windows. You are either good enough or you arent each year.

Fagan said we are "about seven days away" from finalizing the senior coach
Hopefully part of this delay is sorting the assistant they bring, the end result could potentially be who comes as the best package? You would take a good optin with an equally good assistant over a slightly better option with no decent assistant.
