Missus and I are joining North Adelaide FC, if they’ll have us. I’m nearly completely done with the AFC. It’s not the league to me, it’s our club. That’s where the problems start and stop in my view.
Fair enough, I look at club issues as something that is inevitable. Sturt almost folded due to some poor decisions and some unfortunate timing. Adelaide has also made some poor decisions that seem to have turned into an endemic issue, (I’ve no real insight to this, just a guess). I think some of this has come from a build up of pressure and circumstances partly of the AFC’s doing and some I think is from how the AFL have constructed things in the comp.
North Adelaide have had enough of their issues and poor management so don’t expect to be rid of that, the difference is that it won’t be forced down your throat with a used toilet plunger sent over from AFL HQ.

Completely agree with your assessment. Reckon Roo is 50/50 to be gone by the New Year.
I heard that on AA also, I also heard Chapman on SEN earlier, he comes across as very poor on both interviews.

“Thank you (insert host name) that’s a very good question”

Can only be said so many times, it was on repeat and it shows the pressure and lack of real answers that have been plaguing the club for a long time. To hear that Chapman has cemented himself in for another 12 months is disappointing but there does have to be some sort of stability and leadership from some of the culprits to see the change through, but the change better happen and for the better.

My attitude towards Adelaide and footy in general is probably from a different perspective to most or to some. Not sure how old you are but I’m nudging 50....wait, what?
Anyway, I grew up with a totally different era of footy.

Now the team most important to me, Sturt hardly gets any air time nor does the comp. A player could root the coaches’ wife...hi Graham, and it’d barely get a mention, I’d barely know about it and it’d barely affect my week or my enjoyment of the next game.
It’s easy, no gossip, no Victorian media beat up bullshit, just footy.

The AFL is a rampant, mutant beast. It’s a black hole that can and will suck everything in and devour it, other competitions, players, coaches, supporters and peoples hard earned.

Due to my football allegiances I’m slightly removed from the heart wrenching, fly by wire buy in to the AFL and Adelaide. I often think about this, compare the two and ask where and why I enjoy footy and what part of it I enjoy, what I don’t and what I detest and most, nearly all of the stuff I don’t like or detest involves the AFL. For me, the SANFL provides the simple, basic things I want from footy and following a club.

So I don’t blame anyone for getting sucked into the AFL succubus and becoming embittered with it. It’s what it does......bit like the USA and Trump, but that’s another discussion.

Well written - I spent many years at Unley and when I returned to watch them play AFC in 2018 the smell of the "cologne" in front of the stand took me back to being a kid there 40 years ago - it was as you say a much simpler time and competition and back then no one was "out to get" players or coaches as is the norm in many aspects of life in 2019.

Yup, plus there is that wierd rule where we have to notify we're planning on extending him in August by memory?

I'd say he'll be shuffled as well when all is said and done.
I feel/hope he wasn’t announced as out today as his out will not be related to review findings. Just s regular football decision.

Putting him in the release with Burton and Campo is pointing more blame at him than just been an underperformed

More likely we get a coaching announcement which may include a broader coaching team announcement or to be followed by that. This is when I expect hart to be confirmed out. More part of the new coach gettting his team than him being a victim of the review

'Thats a good question stephen'... lol

'Thats a good question stephen'... lol
I liked the part when he said that he wasn't surprised with the findings from the review in regards to the poor performance of the football department... even though he has constantly said there was no issues there and that Burton was the best man for the job... can't believe anything he says.

Can I ask a question, how many or you die hard fan's have been stung by a social forum troll?

Might pay to take 5 every now and again on people putting out a post. Some people may have information of value & looking to share in exchange to trade.

The AFC fan base either have:
-Pretenders (think they're in the know but feed off google)
-Neutrals (like to read but believe nothing)
-Long time members (good read when they post, great insights on the larger view)
- grammarians (Dr Who)
-Haters (shoot any suspected troll)

Dude every year we have a bunch of people jump onto the board, claiming to be ITK. They're almost always full of shit, and they usually bail when they get found out.

Where do you's fit?

I agree in part with this.

Our new coach should be about winning a flag. The idea of a 5 year rebuild whilst wallowing at the bottom of the ladder is BS and fraught with danger. Refresh is probably a better term for what the better clubs tend to do and what we require at present. A year or two acquiring some high draft picks (don't have to be top 3 picks) whilst giving opportunities to younger players whilst also maintaining onfield standards and strong core group.

I also think in general the better clubs are far more ruthless with fringe players and try to open up "development" spots in their best 22 far better than we have done. We've continued to back in experienced role players ahead of talented juniors.

I think there's no reason why in a year or two we can't be catapulting back up the ladder.

With regards to premiership windows, I like the concept as a guide, but I think we can get too hung up on whether a team's in a "window". I think being in the "window" effectively describes when you're list appears primed for a premiership, a core group between 24-30 with a couple of genuine stars and quality across all lines. I think it helps dictate list management strategy, as you're entering "a window" you should be looking to bring in quality, trading out draft picks to fill "needs". As your "window" closes, ie your players get older or you lose key planks to other clubs, you need to be looking to stockpile draft picks and refresh the list. Premierships are funny things though, being in a "window" doesn't mean you're going to win a premiership, but by the same token not being in a "window" doesn't mean you can't have a good year.

For mine, "premiership window" is probably an imperfect term for rating where your list is at and how you should be managing your list. Unfortunately I think it gets used as an "excuse" for lowering expectations and standards for performance, which leads to clubs being basketcases for years on end like Melbourne, Carlton, Gold Coast, St Kilda...
You are, without a doubt, one of the best posters on here, keep it up.

You denying you’re the Snake poster from last year?

This time last year I was in the US trying to capture Trey Gowdy commentary. I wasn't playing with a snake lol.

This is slightly funny but concerning you're so into reptile species. Have you been made a fool?

And the same reason why new members get shot down. You can’t win. Unless you’ve earned legend status or some bull%^+. Amazing how many of the veteran members think volume of posts equals footy IQ. My favourite was when I got smashed for saying Gallucci was a bust. Which he is btw. Anyway, some of us newbies actually know our shit. Don’t discount that.

You’ve got quite the imagination haven’t you?
