Kane is not completely wrong, I agree that Houston and Perryman will be the new senior players when all of our veterans retire which is important. But our youth is average at best, and we have one of the oldest lists in the competition. I find it strange that so many people think our youth is elite.
It’s not that our youth is poor it’s that we have a small core of players that will need to be added to.

Whole thing seems a bit weird.

The fact we've got the "inside running" (to pick 13) with Noble is surely irrelevant to Houston and the CSM team. They know Carlton could give their current first rounder to Port if push came to shove.

That and the fact their offer supposedly isn't as good?

I'll give Edmund some credit, he often doesn't like to insert his opinion, but I can't help but feel he's using a Carlton source this morning.

We heard just yesterday Carlton saying "Houston hasn't yet nominated a club" and ten mins earlier Leppa was blatantly saying we are confident.

Sam Edmund is a Carlton fan and with Maclure their number 1 cheerleader

This is the problem with the AFL, it's hard to trust the narrative as so many cannot leave their scarves and pom poms at home. Very unprofessional.

Don't think leppa would have said what he said if he knew Houston was set on going to carlton. We really need a word from his manager to put it to bed once and for all as to what his wishes are.
At Moment there Bidding war between 3 clubs in Pies/Blues/North

There's a genuine discussion to be had about this.

Like...while I have what I'm sure would be controversial opinions about Australia's obsession with alcohol (I'm a non-drinker) I reckon everyone is to blame here. I'll play devil's advocate.

  • Why are the organisers of that clinic organising the event the night after a known piss up?
  • Why are Hawthorn not working with the organisers to have the event on a different night?
  • Why are the organisers holding an event like that, after a known piss up, with two of the most notorious immature trouble makers on the Hawthorn list?

Having said aaaaaalllllll of the above. To put my non-drinker hat on.

Ginnivan and Watson have the rest of their lives post football to get absolutely fuc*king plastered on a weekly basis. They're also going to attend many many many more BnFs in their careers. They could have very easily just...not got smashed. I'm not even saying don't drink (like I normally would). I'm just saying don't get absolutely shit faced when you know you have a clinic the next day.

As someone with an 8 year old who has attended a couple of these clinics (one was with Crisp and the other was with Steele and WHE) I get how upset those kids would have been about that cancellation given it was so ridiculously last minute. I suspect the fallout wouldn't have been as bad had they cancelled earlier in the week knowing the BnF was the night before.

But I find Australian drinking culture so absolutely bizarre. It feels like people can't just drink to be merry, or warm up. They simply have to drink to get smashed/para/shit faced. Like there's simply no other option and to suggest so is sacrilegious.

Do people just not know how to have a good time without alcohol as an aid?
Please post this outside the trade thread mate.

Look I'm sure the "Wanting to play for Carlton" is like THAT time in College. Sure, there may be a passing phase. But then you grow up and realise that it was just to make yourself more worldly.

Just ask Nick Daicos.

We simply needed to tell Darcy to play good

This isn't new news (I'm not saying you're suggesting it is)

This is what has been reported from day one.

But remember, Sam Edmund is a Carlton supporter. He's going to do all in his limited influence in the media to try and push for the Blues to get Houston or to make Collingwood's job harder.

If Houston really wanted to go to Carlton, he'd have publicly nominated Carlton like literally every other player this trade period has nominated where they want to go.

The truth is probably that if given the choice Houston would probably pick Carlton, but he'd be happy to go anywhere that isn't North and whomever remains that provides Port with the best deal.
