Why don’t we chase stringer once and if we secure Houston? He’d be perfect for us as he can be injected in the guts sporadically and will give jordy and co a chop out. 30 to 40 goals a year. He has a good 2 years in him. If we secured him and Houston we’d be a serious contender next year

Is suns and power want to f**k around , we really should tell them to eff off. Keep noble, forget about Houston , get what you can for Richards, trade F1 to another club to get multiple picks in this years draft, attack the draft hard. Someone remind the list management team that the trade period is not a casting couch situation. They don't need to bend over and take what's given to them .
Cool hand Luke here. It’s easy on this side hey.

We've categorically said a big fat no to Stringer.

I'm not particularly interested in the minutiae of every potential trade possibility, however believe that certain intangibles can provide a means of breaking a stalemate or get a deal done, such as the personalities involved.

In my view, intangibles that may influence the Hoston deal include:

  • Craig Kelly - former player manager therefore it's reasonable to expect him to be well-versed in trade negotiations and be providing assistance to our trading team
  • Jason Cripps - Port's list manager who found a way to get JHF to Port from North by involving 2 other clubs, thereby keeping a promise Port made to JHF
  • Michael Voss - does his record at Carlton to date provide their list management team with cause to baulk at paying the price required, particularly in light of the squad he inherited?
  • Damien Hardwick - is the most successful coach of the last decade, burdened with the expectation of turning a talented list into a contender, willing to re-neg on a commitment to Noble, a player he has specifically identified as a list need?

Imo he was for us especially.

Naughton rated similar but was also a list need.

They knew about his heart condition, and there was an open worry about how it would effect his growth.
Had stated in interviews it had effected his muscle development.

The fact he's no longer at the club, is a C to B grader at best is testament to the fact the pick was wrong.
At Pick 6 we drafted the Rising Star. A player who kicked 40 goals in a team that came within a kick of winning a premiership.

A player Kevin Sheehan labelled the best talent and best player in the draft.

Obviously, in hindsight, it’s easy to say it was a wasted pick and we should have drafted a player who has developed better, but can we stop pretending recruiters are supposed to see through a crystal ball and know that Stephenson is going to struggle with professionalism/motivation as his career progresses?

This revisionist expertise is kind of astounding.

As if Collingwood wouldn’t have done their due diligence with medicals and psych analysis - you can’t be seriously questioning that because his career went to pot?

Can you expand on that?

It was a massive mistake, we recruited because he wanted to come to us, not for need. Richards wants to leave because we have a surplus of small forwards. We paid a 1st and 2nd rounder for him. Had we not done that, it would have been simpler to trade for Houston or others with a top 10 pick especially if we could bring another in.

I feel like today's about when the Ginnivan news broke last year.

When does the Quaynor news break? The love triangle's third and last member!
The Ginnivan news broke a day before the end of trade period from memory. Deal done next day.

Here's a thought.
Forget Houston.
Do deals for Noble and Richards and trade F1
Get Smith in the draft, after one of his close mates gets in his ear, for whatever picks we get from the above
And ask the dogs for a discount on Treloar's pay cause we are being good Kenties.
