Haha oh my god, we knew it was all a set up but that confirms it.
I'm sorry, but please explain to me in what way this is all set up?

In what way does Channel 7 (or the Herald Sun/SEN/Trade Radio) control what the Collingwood Football Club do?

Do you honestly believe that?

Honestly? Honestly?

C'mon.

Last time there were this many anti-Collingwood opinions was when we were trading for Treloar. Richmond media mafia were out in force and the only journo who stuck fast that AT was going to Collingwood was Barrett. But even then there wasn’t the kind of barracking we’re seeing during the actual trade period, mostly because AT had nominated us and Houston hasn’t.

It doesn’t help that we’re now in the age of engagement farming, so literally anything that can get clicks and comments on socials will be said and posted, hence the huge amount of flip flopping going on.
“Collingwood in box seat for Houston”
clicks
“Carlton back in the race for Houston”
clicks
“Carlton haven’t talked to Houston, going to the draft! Collingwood back in box seat!”
clicks
“Carlton and Norf are ahead of Collingwood despite lesser trade offers!”
clicks

We live in strange times. I’d kill for some genuine reporting that’s not purely designed to just get social media engagement…
lol spot on mate!
stay tuned tommorow for the next episode of the bold and the beautiful.
The 10 day draft dealing has become something between a us soapie and wwe wrestling

I think 13 is so popular because everyone knows GC wants to trade it out
So only Carlton knew that Hawks wanted to trade 14? Why did Blues chase 14 instead of 13?

Edit: I can advance a reason for Blues to switch to 14. They may have found other clubs were preferred by Suns, maybe wanting a second round in this draft rather than F2. The lack of other teams offering for 14 is a bit odd though. Hawks would have seen that 14 was attracting attention, easy for them to check in with other clubs.

First of all it's illegal under the current afl system for Henry to tell other clubs he won't play for them.
I am sure it was way before your own time mate, Chalmers did the same he was playing for Port in the sanfl , he wanted to play for us.
The afl called that illegal.
Why am I upset because I think we would have has Mitchell with or without the cats shitty pick 26.
I honestly think the cats would have cracked!
We need to call it the way it is the Henry, Schultz and Ginivan deals were all crap deals for us.
Grundy fair enough was a salary dump
For heavens sake, He wanted to go home, his home is Geelong. Clubs aren't wasting their time, their resources, their picks on those.

Watch Mackie this week and see if he cracks on Smith. He won't, he'll walk him to the draft and take him for nothing.

Mitchell came up late and were lucky to get him at all.

They know where the Money comes

We have no picks to take to the draft. If Port trade Houston to someone else and have the cap to accept Lukosious, there's no need for GC to deal 13 to us
We really should try do 13,23 for Noble F1 36 tomorrow.

Values 13 at the market rate of F1 and a second and Noble at 23.

I think Port will be able to get Lukosius and 29 for their future first - at worst throwing in 39 as well.

Leaving the Houston deal as the show stopper for the end with a lot of posturing. But ultimately 13,23 Richards for Houston and 29 is the balanced outcome.

Geelong bent us over. simple. It's important to learn from our fudge ups and learn from them.
it should have been there pick 7 our there future first or let Henry nominate for the draft
Mitchell would have come to us even without the cats pick

You don’t think Clubs are asked/told to hold off on announcing deals to make sure eyes and ears remain on Trade Radio and Fox Footy?

You really think a bunch of phone calls requires 12 days?

This is the other thing. Pick 13 is supposedly super hot property, but Carlton's deal for 14 went through quickly without much seeming competition. All these clubs who want 13 could have been pushing for that. Carlton had wanted 13 but switched their attention to 14 for some reason.
This is where I feel the media are driving a certain agenda and are potentially drumming up untrue scenarios. Not one of them had any clue that pick 14 was on the market and available, until the deal was as good as done.

It feels like Collingwood are fighting the opposition clubs recruiting team and the media. Though I hope both parties are professional enough to not get caught up by the drivel dished up by these dishonest and despicable dumbasses.

14 and now 9 from the Bombers have gone through pretty easily. It seems incredibly odd that so many clubs are supposedly set on 13 when there were other almost equal or better options available.

If we are prepared to offer a F1 and Noble for 13 and nothing more it should get done.

That would essentially be us giving them a F1 and pick 23 for it and Noble is worth more than just a numbered draft selection.

I think deadline pressure forces them into getting a result rather than holding out for an advantageous deal.

Yeah that's how I see it. I've not actually seen other clubs mention pick 13 either, just the media (not across everything, so may have missed it).

The Media, Pies and Suns also keep saying that discussion with Collingwood continues. So it really looks like Pies are the main club being dealt with and these other reports are just to squeeze them.

What am I talking about? I'm replying to you thinking Geelong would have "folded" despite having literally all the power.

We had Pick 28 which was the same as Pick 26 (Hawks traded it on) anyway... Hawks wanted a pick in the second round, offered to pay Mitchells deal for it too..

So we lost Henry, gained significant salary cap room and got Tom Mitchell.

You continue to believe in the various conspiracies and the irrational belief that every institution involved in the game (the AFL, media, umpires, etc) is biased against Collingwood and doesn't want us to succeed.

I'll continue to believe in my irrational game day superstitions whereby I somehow believe my actions will impact the result of the game.

And we can both continue to live in our own little fantasy worlds.

It’ll be the national draft

I hate to compare with the NFL, but NFL teams just get on with the trades. They don't f**k around, they don't waste time getting into d**k measuring contests, they are ruthless and efficient with trades. Wish we had that kind of mentality in the AFL.
They dont have trade radio do they? heh
