If we turn F1 (which we didn't want to keep as it would be swallowed up by a FS bid) and Noble into Houston, we've done very well. End of story.

Sure, we could have turned F1 and Noble into good picks in this yrs draft. But I'm comfortable the club has taken the approach it has.

Throw in Perryman as a FA acquisition.

Job well done recruitment team 👍

I was just curious about where collingwood are placed with regards to the 2 out of 4 rule. Having said that, if mcguanee is seen as a guaranteed first round talent, i suppose his expected first round bid should allow us to trade our 2026 and 2027 picks if required.
We've taken a first rounder every year since 2020

I know getting houston is huge, but we essentially wont have a first rounder in 2024 and 2025. So if another player pops up in 2025, i dont think we will be able to trade our 2026 and 2027 picks. Unless 2022 and 2023 count as the 2 out of 4 years.
We did have a F1 pick. We chose current 2x AA Dan Houston.

We in the Flag Window and giving our best effort to make sure we win our 17th Flag

Here come the lot who don't understand trading next years first and the reason behind it.
except the bit where you have no real clue:
_ where next year's first will actually land;
_ where T.McGuane will actually be rated (injury, form, size, other talent);
_ the options that may present in 'live trading'; and
_ the players that may be available & up for trade (requirng a 1st) that you close the door on now

None of those bother me at all about this decision

With our expected draft hand of 36 , plus couple of late picks in the 40's and 50's , addition of perryman,houston,possibly dev, tomlimson, hayes and the loss of noble,richards,possibly Krueger ,
do we have enough list spots for the late picks ?
Or is it more likely we package those picks to move as high as possible given the potential lack of list spots?

If 23 is part of this trade then we're absolutely laughing. I'd do Noble plus a future first for Houston on its own every day of the week though.

Looks like the reports about Richards being a separate deal were accurate. Hopefully that means the door is open to him remaining at the Pies if Port don't offer a late second rounder.
Let's not get greedy here.

We will lose Noble, F1, and Richards, and only net back Houston. If this is the deal, we are doing very well.

If this is being reported correctly, we lose F1, Noble and Richards, and we gain Houston.
Would have been nice to get a pick in the 20s, but maybe not to be.
1st round pick plus one best-22 player plus a 24-yo who is absolutely tracking to be a best-22 player, for Dan Houston and nothing else? Feels a tad lopsided to me

I hope people now realise that Leppa is a shrewd no nonsense operator and no shrinking violet.
He was put in the role for a reason, because it’s what he’s suited to.
Now if he can manage to screw Mackie at some stage the man will be elevated to God status.
You had me at "screw Mackie"

From Marc McGowan:

Dan Houston is edging ever closer to becoming a Magpie in a three-club deal, but there is still some haggling being done.

Negotiations are ongoing, but if this trade eventuates, it will look something like below:

Collingwood receives: Dan Houston, 58

Port Adelaide receives: Jack Lukosius, Joe Richards and Rory Atkins, 13, 29, 50

Gold Coast receives: John Noble, 2 x future first-rounders, 39
