Our last two seasons of injuries woes (yes even 2023 that most people forget about), does not instil much confidence in our medicos really

To be fair most of our injuries have been freak accident type stuff

Very few have been continual niggles and soft tissue injuries

The only one truly mismanaged was De Goey

Yep true.

Surely we have among the best facilities at the club too. One thing they let you be a capitalist within such a socialistic system.

This was mostly due to injuries though. We've now added two midfield capable players and traded out two who do not play midfield. We have thickened the soup.
gone backwards a tad on pure leg-speed, run 'n carry

but certainly gone forwards in terms of size & strength and attacking leg

I would hope we get some change back
If we get anything back, I hope it's a pick swap that results in an upgrade for us rather than an additional pick. Extra picks mean more players we need to drop off our list (unless we on-trade for someone like Deven)

Particularly from where we started. Noble requesting a trade and Richards looking like he wanted out - they're the level of player you nearly always lose on as they don't command good picks, so it's just a speculative shot at replacing them.
We entered the trade period with a poor hand of picks. We then found two edge of 22 guys wanted out. To turn that, along with F1, into Houston, is a great outcome. Obviously pending final deal details.

From Michael Gleeson:

Collingwood have agreed to a trade giving up a future first round pick, a second round pick, John Noble and Joe Richards for Port Adelaide’s Dan Houston. There might be a pick or two in the 50’s or 60s coming to Collingwood.

And he's 32 next year, so I wouldn't be expecting much from him.
He's a stop gap. Better option next year than what we've got and I think we'll draft a tall for the future. The injured guy who trained with us last year is my bet.

Damian Barrett: “I still think Houston will get to Carltank”.

j/k
I was listening to him on trade radio today and have no idea how he could even comment on this trade with a straight face. A caller rand and said how do the pies get 13 for John Noble and his literal response was “uhhhhh, I’m not really on top of all that, just the main trades”.
Like that wasn’t one part of the biggest ****ing trade of this whole period! No wonder he thought Carlton were ahead, he couldn’t even wrap his head around how we would get 13 from GC 🤦🏻
